looking for aftermarket running boards

Hey Nandog, how are those wind/rain deflectors on your windows? I've been thinking of getting some but I've seen some that stick out a lot and I didn't like that much. Did you have to use tape or do they fit in pretty well? Any problems?

I just put on the DeeZee boards and I like em so far, nice solid feel to them. Had to cut about 2 inches of the front of each so they would fit with my OEM mud flaps

Another vote for Dee Zee.

Also, they fit perfectly with Husky mudflaps. No cutting necessary.

Just a quick question, how do the ATS boards mount? Do they mount to the frame like the n-fabs or do the mount on the body mounts?

The window visors are Wade in channel and they do have tape on them but was really easy to put them on.

The running boards
They bolt on to the same bolts that the rocker panel is bolt on to?

I'm not knocking your decision to cut off some of the running boards but why did you do this when all you had to do is slide them back a couple of inches? I have the OEM mud guards and didn't cut anything. Kudos to Dee Zee for having such a flexible design that allows you to slide them to adjust for fit.

I cut them so they didn't extend into the rear wheelwell, they now end at the rocker panel. Also the front is now square to the madflap with only a small gap.

Nice look on the DZ. I wish Toy or AMP made electronic retractable boards. Im debating on a 2012 Limited but dislike the chrome on the factory boards.

The 12's have a factory option for electric retractable boards similar to the one's made by Amp Industries. $1500 for the option but i think thats about what Amp gets for em too. Wonder how well they would hold up to the road salt used in these parts?

Thanks to another member (similar thread) this is the order code for the auto running boards. My AMPs have been trouble free for 6 yrs and they get a lot of use. Many have them on lifted trucks with few problems. Not sure with harsh weather areas.

The Amp boards are def nice and they make quality products, hopefully the Toyota boards are of the same quality. :thumb3:

I gave the code to my dealer and they are not avail. Perhaps it's region specific? That would be a shame.

Not region specific, they are a factory option only. If you are ordering a new T4R then shouldn't be a problem but if you want them added to a 4Runner thats already in country you'll have to go aftermarket.
