Looking for bolt on rock slider options/opinions? Or templates?

Ok I've done some searching. Seems like weld on rock sliders are the way to go... Is this the case? I am not even sure why but welding to my frame (getting someone else to weld them) just makes me a little uncomfortable. Are there any solid bolt on options? I don't think nerf bars would hold up? My girls short and she kinda needs the step I don't mind losing a little clearance of they're still sturdy. But strength first!

I also have a buddy who can get me steel cheap and could pay someone to do some bending if I could find a good template? If there's one to share out there?

Not many companies are going to share a design so you can build it yourself.

Having built my own set of sliders, i will say that ordering a set from 4xinnovations is definitely worth the money.

Welding is more popular since a bolt on design will have to drill holes on the frame which is a huge pain. Nothing wrong with welding on the frame.

Haha well I didn't the companies would share them. But I thought there might me some guys here who made them for themselves and had a template kicking around.

Sliders are pretty simple to design... my guess is that if you got under your truck with a measuring tape and a notepad you could probably figure out something perfectly functional.

I welded mine together because it was easiest and strongest. And if you decide to remove them, you just cut them off and the frame isn't full of holes. That said, if you're going to bolt them to the frame, I would definitely run the bolts through a plate on either side of the frame to space out the load (kind of like a big washer).

I would think drilling holes through the frame might weaken it. Besides, the 4xinnovations sliders are so cheap to buy, it wouldn't be worth the time/effort to design/build your own inferior product.

You can turn weld on sliders into bolt on sliders. Just need metal plates and you will want to weld sleeves into the frame for bolts. Drilling level and straight holes into the frame and welding in sleeves is a lot more work but doable.

Sounds doable. I might just get them welded on if I needed them off permenantly I could just cut and grind and deal wth that. I guess now my question is why are the angled up??? Is it for clerance cause I can't say I love the look. Maybe some straight out that can be used as steps like nerf bars but able to support the entire weight of the truck still? Thoughts? I want a wheeling rig cause I like to play and play hard but I also have this as my dd and want to keep looking good.

You can definitely weld them so that they are straight out and not at an angle. That is how I did mine. I also added plates inbetween the tubes to fill in the holes. They work very well for steps for the wife and kids.

Oh now this is some great info. I love the pics with the bolt on kit being used to support the whole truck with only 1/8th deflection. But at the same time for 120 extra and 50 on top of that if I want the drill bits... Welding doesn't look to bad cause I've got a buddy.... I will be sure to get good pics of whatever I do! You guys have been a ton of help here.

Now honestly do you think I'm going to regret not tilting these up at an angle so they can still be used as steps? I don't really see a lot of rocks more tree stumps in my neighbourhood. But I do want to protect my truck as well.

For the uses you describe, I think you'll be more disappointed if you angle them up.

I like that. The only thing that worries me is those kick outs are a real hang up risk if I end up needing to go back while skidding? You think? I kinda like both the look and function of the kick out being rounded back but I love them being designed to use flat how I'm gonna end up using it.

Shrockworks also make some bolt on sliders for rather cheap... work fine for me. No drilling thru frame either.

what made you go with those compared to the ones from Stubbs Welding, for example?
