Looking for Jumper Cables

I recently came across a thread talking about jumper cables that have a disconnect near the front of the grill. Now that I'm ready to pull the trigger I can't find it. I thought it was a forum member that made and sells them but... I've searched the forum and Google with no success.

Anyone remember seeing a similar thread?

You could also fabricate the same system yourself and save some money but the link above gives you a plug and play system if you don't have the proper crimping tools.

Not sure what you are trying to do but if its to be able to jump your truck or somebody else's you may want to look into something like this:

I keep one in my vehicles / ATVs, etc. and they work. So far I used in on a diesel tractor. SXS and some guy's car in a parking lot.

Those Li-ion jump packs are good, but there are still situations where jumpers are needed. I've not been able to jump a completely dead battery with my jump pack?!!?

I need to build me some connections with those ends.

they would be great for jumper cables, but also for using a portable compressor. no need to pop the hood and hook the clamps up each time.

you can get just the ends for much cheaper. then buy a nice long set of jumper cables and cut them down to make the connections. warn is nice, but way overpriced.

With that and Ducmonsta's link, you could build yourself a nice set that quick connects at the grill or even under the hood next to the battery so nobody can touch the connectors when you're parked. These are not fused, so someone could short the battery out from that connector.

Some 4awg or 2awg into the quick connect, a couple of ring terminals for hardwiring to the battery, and some good quality battery clamps would make the whole thing work really well!

I haven't seen anyone making up a complete kit here, but they are super-easy to do, and if you get the parts, several of us here could talk you through the installation.

(I have one of the lithium batter starters, and it works awesome. The only time I use my jumpers anymore is to power my air compressor. If I were doing it now, I'd probably just use small guage wire for my air compressor only and skip the 2ga jumper size.)



I have that setup on my 4runner. Mine is home brew, but the idea is easy. 25' heavy gauge jumper cables, a couple anderson connectors. I have a hydraulic crimper, but you could also solder them - with about 1lb of solder. I drop mine just inside the bumper on the driver's side. Then I can use my jumpers without opening the hood. Keep the other end of the jumper cables and buy a 3rd connector and you can just plug them back into the other end and have a normal set of jumper cables with alligator clips on both ends too.

IMO this is what I would buy.

Anderson Connector is a brand name, but also a generic term for that style. This is a fair price IMO for $17/set. Amazon.com: Driver Battery Quick Connect Plug Kit from Driver Recovery Products: Automotive

For about $60-70 you can built a very good setup of quick connect jumper cables.

also as a final note - use marine type heat shrink tube, not the cheap stuff. The marine stuff has basically hot glue gun glue inside and seals up the crimped fittings much better than the cheap heat shrink tube.

Thanks for the input and responses. The Warn cables are similar to the cables from the thread I remember. However, I specifically recall that the cables I'm remembering were made by a forum member/vendor. I recall a discussion about the welding cable that was used in this specific application. Nothing against Warn, but I like to support the small local guys when I can. I'll keep searching.
