Looking for the best in dash Nav/DVD head unit......any suggestions?

Just thought i'd ask the audio guru's cause i am not very versed on this subject.

I'm looking to change the head unit on my 4runner and i would like to get the best head unit i can for the $.

I would like Nav, Blu Tooth, Sat Radio, and ipod connection with a somewhat visually pleasant interface.

i have a Kenwood DDX7719 in my Xterra and while the unit works well (without nav) visually it's very bland.

Any suggestions?

I'm curious to see the feed back you get on this one. Looking to do the same thing for my '03 and am leaning towards the Eclipse AVN4430 due to the fact you can pop the nav panel off and take it with you. Seems to provide a little security rather than having that massive 7 inch lcd panel visible to anyone who looks in the truck.

Also, I would love to see photos of installs of after market in dash nav units. Worried that some of these will really stick out even with trim rings, etc. Want to see what they look like before I sink $$ in to this.

I'm running a Pioneer AVIC-D3 and love the thing to death. It allows me to control my ipod from the touch screen, has all the outputs I need and the maps are easily updated. If it got stolen I wouldn't replace it with one of the newer units, I would buy the same thing again

I am waiting for the new Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT but currently very happy with the AVIC-X910BT. Much improved over the old "F" series units! Hard to beat the Pioneer user interface.

Luckily Kenwood has finally updated their interfaces. Check out the new DNX7140. I do agree though Kenwoods stuff 2 years ago was blaaah but functional. I have a DDX819 with the add on Navigation. It's about time to upgrade...

Here is what the Pioneer Avic z series looks like. It has all the features you listed but each component must be purchased separately which in the long run becomes pretty pricey. I believe the new kenwoods have bluetooth built in and the add ons might be less expensive than the pioneers.

The new Pioneer Z unit has it built in also. Along with voice command for bluetooth, Ipod and Nav.

How much did that nice lil' set-up run ya, juiceboxer? I'm looking into at least upgrading the headunit in my Runster to at least have the touchscreen capability...having Nav in my GS and GX has so far done nothing but spoil me and my wife...*and make me never want another car w/out factory nav...specifically toyota/lexus factory nav...it's so damn user friendly!

I purchased it on Ebay for around $500, you can get them cheaper now as they are no longer manufactured. There are a few newer Pioneer units with some extra capabilities but nothing that I have found worth upgrading for.

Not having to deal with the map disk is nice.

That is very true, but for me I've got 5,700 songs on my iPod so I don't really have a need to remove the nav disk, I also Keep any DVD I would want to watch on my iPod as well.
