I can't decide to buy the late models of the 4th Gen or the 5th Gen. Can someone provide some info?

Thanks

I see you are realtively new with 7 post. Use the search feature on 4th gen and 5th gen sections. This has been discussed to death and started many arguments. We do not need another war going on between 4th and 5th gens..
Drive both and make your choice.

Have you test driven both of them? For me, the cost to get into a 08-09 4th gen was only 15-20% less than a 5th gen here in AZ. I love the interior in my 10' Limited compared to other 4th gen Limiteds, but that's my personal opinion.

Test drive both 4th gen and a 5th gen, and make the decision yourself. Had I listened to my coworkers, I would have been driving a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but once I test drove it...I hated it.

I agree completely. If you're looking for facts / information to help you understand before making a decision, there are several threads discussing and comparing. But once you have reasonably informed yourself, it comes down to a matter of opinion... and nobody's opinion matters as much as your own.

In my case, I was and still own my 97 4Runner and had looked into buying another SUV. I really wanted another 4Runner because I have had such good luck with the 97. The 4th gen just was not big enough (cargo space wise) for me to go for it. Finally when the 5th gen came out I went for it and got a 2011 because I also never buy the first year of a new design.
Seriously looked at other SUV's (Pilot, Acadia,CX9) but thank God I waited and got what I really wanted. Couldn't be more pleased.

Not to add fuel to the flames (4th Gen vs. 5th Gen war), but I have owned both. I do miss my 4th Gen, but not enough that I'd trade my 5th Gen for it. I absolutely love my 5th Gen TE. Bottom line...you can't go wrong with either one. I agree with 00Jay, with the cost of the used 4th Gens, in my opinion it typically isn't worth 50K+ miles for only a $10K (if you're lucky) reduction in price.

This. ..and 5th gen is better...

You won't find good value in the used Toyota market IMO. Careful analysis has always pushed me to buy new. Was just looking at used Taco and FJ prices the other day - totally nuts. Many used vehicle are priced at or over new car negotiable prices. Buy new at low price, sell used at high price - works for me.

Guys, Thanks for all the replies! I have driven the 4th, but not the 5th yet. I like the 5th's size, but I think they are both really nice. I've grown up driving F-150's and have always been a truck guy, but the 4runner has really grabbed my attention. As far as the $$, I don't have enough to purchase either out right, so it will be financed when I do purchase. My wife and I just had our second child this week and has made us realized her Jetta isn't gonna cut it!

I went from a 2010 F150 to a 2005 Jeep LJ to my 11 4runner.... test drove a 4thgen w V8 and loved the power but... there was no compromise in the 5th GEN interior space.

3rd Gen then? Just finished Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University were he talks about not going into debt. But rather building wealth with the car payments then one day buying cash. In any event good luck!

I would finance a 5th Gen just to spite Dave Ramsey

I like Dave Ramsey too, but don't have 6 million cash to buy my Brentwood building. Many people don't. I don't carry credit card balances either, but financing 15K or less on a car is acceptable to me since I will pay it off within a year or two at most. To each his own....
