Looking to trade in my Taco for a new 4Runner?

Hello neighbor lol.
From what Im seeing the TRDP and TrailP are pretty much non existant.
But on another note - does the Trail not have the KDSS and only the Trail Premium?
So far my searching has led me to:
Hagerstown: 27000 trade in and 43k for pro
Frederick: 27500 trade in and 41k for pro

you can find them, but you'll have to search hard and far.. also.. they make mistakes when listing because they hire idiots to do it.. so even if it says its not premium, look closely and look at interior pics and other key features that tell you it IS infact a premium trail.. they make a lot of mistakes..
when i look for vehicles for sale.. i look at the models they are appropriately listed.. then i search through everything to look for the ones mis-listed

Well my local dealer has found me a super white and an attitude black TEP. Both configured almost the same, but they have to swap for them. Now I need to decide which color I like best.
Hey Man - I made the switch from a '09 Tacoma TRD Sport DBCB w/cap to a 4Runner TEP - I was looking for a more refined vehicle with updates such as gps/stereo/sunroof and pleather. The main reason to switch was to fit a family and a dog. I do miss the truck bed from time to time, but to keep things neat and tighty in the trunk I added canvas back cargo liners which keep things from messing up the truck.
I was very torn between the TRDP vs. TEP - ultimately the TRDP I was going to buy for 39,5 sold before I made up my mind. The TEP has a better ride over the Tacoma in spades. The KDSS makes a huge difference. My two scents - If you like stock vehicles and enjoy the mod'd look and can live without a sunroof - the TRDP is a pretty unique vehicle that looks badass and has a similar drive/feel to the TEP. For a capable trail car for only occasional situations, I assume the TRDP will be fully capable (minus doing serious trails where you would want something else, plus a buddy, plus a high lift jack, plus....I think you get the point). I sort of regret not getting the TRDP because it looks soo much better then the TEP and I love all the TRD stock parts - but I was a bit scared of the extra cost and I knew I wouldnt be getting a raise if my Boss saw my TRDP next to his FJC.
In sum - 4Runner > Taco for better ride and refinement. Get a cheap trailer to make up for the truck bed if you find yourself hauling major stuff (i.e., lumber, cord of wood, etc). Something else to keep in mind is the 4Runner gets worse MGP's (i average about 19 with 75/25 hwy/city) and has less towing capacity by around 1500 lbs.
If you rule out the TRDP - I would wait and drive the new Tacoma and compare to the TEP vs '16 Tacoma. Truck looks very nice inside and has some newer tech features inside.

I just switched from a Nissan Frontier (Tacoma competitor) to a 5th gen 4Runner and I regret nothing!
Both my Taco and 4Runner are black. Looks awesome, but the clear coat is very thin - just be fore warned. I'm just a sucker for these cars in Black.

This made me grind my teeth a bit because I accepted not to get the TRDP lol. There are 3 around, and they are all Inferno.
I'm kind of making the switch as my wife and I are looking to expand the family by +1 next year, but twins seem to run in her blood line lol.
So Ive been hoping around between 3 dealers, now Im down to 2.
One dealer says $38300 for the TEP with the KDSS. This is going though USAA which would also get me a 1.75% loan.
Other dealer said 39800 for the TEP that was prices at 41k. I dug around and submitted a price through Costco and that dealer came back saying they could do $1050 below invoice. So now Im finding out that price before I go to the other dealer to get my truck appraised.
If I get 1k under invoice... I might price out the Pro again just for giggles.

Can't go wrong with what ever you do. I made the sensible choice since I was out of budget with the TEP anyway...in the end, i'm glad I went with the TEP for cost and practicality reasons. Perhaps someday I'll put the TRD lift on it, but won't be any time soon.
It looks like your right in the same ball park in terms of price for the TEP. The best offer I was given was 38,1 with a remote starter, floor mats (which are junk anyway) and trunk liner and a 100k mile warranty for an extra $1200 - This was obviously last minute deal right before xmas, so you could imagine how desperate the dealership was to sell some cars. I ended up scoping out a "manager demo" with 5k miles on it for $36,5 with all the accessories plus cross bars listed above including the warranty at $1200.
The best price I found on a TRDP was 39,9 out the door in NH. A no haggle dealership up here has fixed prices on cars that are fairly competitive without the haggle/hassle. I continued to search for TRDPs after I put a deposit down on my TEP and that was by far the best deal I could find.
Again, good luck and you can't go wrong either way. I had to do some soul searching in order to make a decision - I believe I made the right decision in the end and love the TEP

Ive got my price down to $37.5 for a TEP with the carpet mats, crossbars, and premium exhaust tip (lol.)
Is the extra warranty worth it? I know this dealer pushes it pretty hard, least they did with my Tacoma and I declined it.

I believe it is very much worth it if you can get it at a reasonable price and it's a real toyota warranty and not a third party warranty. It really is a great peace of mind if you are going to keep your vehicle for a long time. Looks like you are making a good deal so far. Get them to half price or better the warranty and you might be good to go. Good luck.
