loose traction after lift

Does anybody notice after lifting the T4R that it looses traction when merging from a parking lot the road. I noticed it in several occasions and it starts to bother me :(. Is this normal after performing a lift or is this the reason that we need to put spacer or buy rim with off-sets to make the wheel base wider.

Currently, I have the stock rim with dynapro 265/65/17 ATM.

Current set-up:

Bilstein 5100 (2.5" lift - front, stock coil)
Bilstein 5100 - rear
OME 895 coil - rear

Thanks

I have the DS 2.5/1.5 and haven't noticed any loss of traction. Maybe a little less pressure on the skinny pedal?

Did you reconnect the rear sway correctly?

Er, whenever you do a lift, aren't you suppose to install extended links or relocation brackets for the sway bar?

Because if you keep the stock setup on a lifted suspension, it would cause the sway bar to limit your suspension travel.

So, if you are coming onto a main road from a parking lot up a slight grade, I can see that it might cause the inside wheel to 'lift' off the pavement reducing traction.

I'd be careful going around sharp turns even on level pavement...you might experience oversteer in an unpleasant way.

By the way, this is why hardcore offroaders and vehicles like the JK Rubicon have sway bar disconnects...to prevent it (swaybar) from limiting suspension travel (articulation).

Hey, it is like KDSS on the 5th gen and Lexus.

This is unrelated to sway bar. I do not have sway bars and the same thing happens to me. I only notice when I take a really tight turn and get on it pretty hard right away as I am turning. VSC/Trac kicks on much easier than it used to.

I have wheel spacers and different offset wheels, so I don't think that is it either...

Well, then it just might the inherent nature of the beast.

So, how does it handle without the rear sway bar...how is the body roll?

jwyshrek/BlairB,

That's what I'm experiencing. It seems that the VCS try to kick in (but does not cause the VCS to lit up).

That's what I'm doing right now is to carefully turn when merging to a main road and also when making a u-turn.

Did you align the 4Runner after your lift?

I personally feel the sway bar or lack there of is still contributing to the problem some, you're talking about a part whose sole purpose is to reduce body roll by counteracting it when hooked up properly. (Key word being properly)

I can't say with a hundred percent certianty but keep in mind that the vehicle can sense body roll and will try to correct for it.

Yes, I took the T4R for alignment and the alignment even resolve the vibrating steering wheel when driving about 60 mph above :driving:.
