Lower ball joint failure on uneven ground

I can't get over just how lucky you are that your LBJ failure happened in your own driveway!

Yeah man, it sucked working on that ice patch with the ass end sticking out on the road for sure but I'm thanking my lucky stars because it could have been much much worse. Lesson learned on neglecting ball joints for sure.

Glad you've got it figured out. I'd have a hard time leaving my rig half in my driveway for sure.

Do you have any pics of how the ball joint failed? Just curious.

Basically the ball pulled out of the socket leaving the ball attached to the lower control arm and the socket attached to the knuckle/rotor/hub.

And she's back on 4 wheels. Ended up doing outside tie rods and new cv axles as well just to be safe. I realized that in order to get the boot on I would have had to take the axle off anyways so I just replaced it altogether. The other side went really smooth with the ball joint, other than the cotter pins. Honestly that was the biggest PITA, and I ended up just breaking them off and removing with an impact wrench.
