Lower Ball Joint torque specs

I've got the FSM's for both 2003 runners and 2006 runners. The 03 FSM says the torque spec on the 2 bolts for ball joint to Lower A-arm is 166ft-lbs, the 06 FSM says they are 118ft-lbs. That's a pretty big difference for what I'm assuming are the same suspension set ups. I'm leaning toward the 166ft-lbs since its a closer FSM to my particular model year, but was wondering if anyone here has any insight.

Thanks,
Mike

If my memory serves correct, I do 166ft/lbs on my '05. Don't have my field manual in front of me though.

Torqued to 166ftlbs. Once I saw the size of the bolts, I realized they would be just fine at that rating. Thanks for the response.

2008 SR5 lower control arm bolt torque?

Long time lurker and first post!

I would love to know what you are to do for a 2008? I just completed a CV axle and upper ball joint replacement. Torqued the lower two control arm bolts to 118 because the manual I have for a 2006 indicates that...anyone have any idea??? Now I see other manuals saw 166?

What's correct for a 2008?....48 fl/lbs is a BIG difference!

Either should be fine. If you are really worried about it, go with the 166. Won't hurt em. And it'll take you 20 p min tops.
