Lower Control Arm Bushing Question

I'm down to my last hope on this popping sound that I have coming from my front suspension. I'm planning on replacing the LCA bushings and I was wondering where you all have had luck buying yours. I appreciate any help and hopefully this will clear up my issue.

I bought poly ones from energy suspension online. Definitely familiarize yourself with the bushing replacement process if you haven't already. It's not hard but is time consuming and I'd wager most folks would rather just buy new lower arms them replace the bushings.

you can get moogs for $50 for all four and new greasable cams or around $5
its not that hard
if your cams are seized then it adds some time
but if not its a piece of cake
use the heat and bottle jack method they pop right out

and if you have a go pro or such pop it down there and take a video to see whats going on before you replace parts blindly
you could also jack up and check the bushings with a crow bar or such

do you have parts #'s for the poly
other members have not had luck with them fitting on tacomas

Here's the kit I used. If you want the black poly instead of the red replace the R with a B in the part number (pretty sure on that but double check).

What have you already changed? (Seeing as its "last hope")

Did you have to reuse the metal sleeve or did you replace it?

For the lowers you have to re-use the metal sleeve. I have couple pics of the process in my build thread.

Make sure you have:
-sharp, strong bit for your dremel (or whatever tool you use to remove the washer)
-bench vise
-torch

Btw, if anyone wants the upper poly bushings, they can have them. I'd rather see them get put to use than just sit round. Just pay shipping...

I'll take them I am planning on replacing mine this spring. Let me know how much you want for shipping. Thanks!

Just took a look at your build thread. Do the washers need to be removed if you use the torch/jack method in the video I posted?

I caved and added the entire process to my build thread - been meaning to do it anyways. Yes - I don't see how there's any way in getting around the washer removal so I think that it will have to come off.

LCA bushing replacement writeup

The jack method will probably work just fine but in the process I wrote i did voice my one possible concern about it.

Considering that I'm not sure if it's just the bushings that are the issue I think I am probably just going to replace both of the LCA assemblies. Should I go oem or aftermarket and where should I get them from? I appreciate the help

Get new lca bushings "moog" $50
And greaseable cams $65
And new bjs $50
So for $165 all mew and everything is greaseable

And I have replaced the UCAs, shocks, coils, swaybar links, and CV axles. The tie rods are tight and the LCA joints look rusted to hell. The car lived in Florida by the beach before I owned it and to be safe I feel I'd rather just replace the whole assembly and just be done with it. I'd like advice as to which ones I should buy to replace them though

I am having the same issue now that I have my Daystar kit on. I had to replace the bushings and cams. I went with the moogs. Now I'm getting the popping sounds. Seems to only be at low speed turning the wheel. I don't hear it on low speed driving while hitting bumps or anything. I climbed under and everything seems tight but I can make my tie rods pivot easily by hand so I'm thinking that's going to be the culprit. The nuts are tight and locked down but the ball joint in there is obviously loose.

That sounds more like a CV joint being worn out. When you lifted it you may have unseated the boot and over time leaked the grease out.

Cygan,
Sounds like you have the same issue as me. If you get it resolved let me know what you did to fix it, it's much appreciated. Chances are I'm just going to get the entire assembly and replace both sides.

Do you have part numbers for the 4th gen moog bushings and greasable cams? When I had to replace mine a year ago, OEM from the dealer was the only source I could find. I ordered parts through a local NAPA but when they showed up they were not the correct bushings and had a different design.

Would like to add the part numbers to my excel sheet just for future reference and I can't seem to find them for th 4th Gen online.

I found the cam kit which would work but it's def a different design from OEM and I couldn't find the greasable version.
