Lower Control Arm Bushing Question

That sounds more like a CV joint being worn out. When you lifted it you may have unseated the boot and over time leaked the grease out.

The boots did leak a little but were re sealed with new clamps with in 30 miles of installing the lift. There are only about 700 miles on the lift now. The popping didn't start until after the new lca bushings and alignment were done with in 100 miles from installing the lift. I highly doubt the cvs wore out with in 30 miles after loosing a tiny bit of grease. I'm wondering if it's just the change in suspension angles on parts that have been seated in place for 166k miles either way I am going to start whittling away at components. I plan on upgrading the xreas ASAP and will probably change most other the other components at that time if not all of them. I want everything to have grease fittings anyway.

OP, I will let you know what I come up with but mine will take some time. Please let me know if you come up with anything as well.

Do you have part numbers for the 4th gen moog bushings and greasable cams? When I had to replace mine a year ago, OEM from the dealer was the only source I could find. I ordered parts through a local NAPA but when they showed up they were not the correct bushings and had a different design.

Would like to add the part numbers to my excel sheet just for future reference and I can't seem to find them for th 4th Gen online.

I found the cam kit which would work but it's def a different design from OEM and I couldn't find the greasable version.

Is it completely necessary to replace the camber/caster as well? On rockauto you can get the moog camber/caster kit for $33 each and the moog ball joints for $21 each. I would order the bushings off the moog website direct so the total seems to be around $200. Does this sound about right?

It's only necessary if your current ones are seized up or in really bad shape. If the OEM ones are fine, just clean them up and throw some anti-seize on them. That being said - I really like the greasable Moog bolts and it wouldn't hurt to have them on hand as replacements if you have no clue as to the current state of the ones on your truck. The only way you'll know is by trying to loosen and turn the bolts.

I've had alignments done and I'm pretty sure those bolts are okay, I just don't want have to spend ~$50 on them unless they're necessary. Otherwise, I'm going to order new ball joints and the LCA bushings and put them on and hope that fixes my issue.

its very easy to check the front are the ones that cause the most trouble
as the have a sleeve that the bolt goes into .....
mark alignment cams loosen nut try to rotate cam assembly.....
this would also be a good time to remove them and grease them before an alignment
here in the east coast....almost every truck will have them seized at one point or another....
i love the greasable cam's great $60 investment

I didn't order the kit so I had to put it back together without replacing the bushings. I understand that the bolts and sleeves are part of the (k100128) kit but are the front and back of the LCA the same? Could I use those bolts and sleeves for both? Just want to get this right so I don't have to deal with it again as it's most likely my issue.

the front bolts are the only ones with sleeves....
the rears are just the bolt
they are diff size dia. bolts......
one moog kit does on side so you need to cam bolt kits and new moog bushings

Yes one kit per lca
Just make sure u get the proper bolts from them before you tear it apart
There was issues in the past where they sent out wrong kits
But that seems to be fixed now

Hey guys I posted this question in an older thread before I saw this one. figured I would ask here as well. I'm about to order the parts to do the bushing swap and the cam bolts. I just wanted to confirm that the bushings from moog (k200772 and k200773) can fit a 04 V8 4x4. When I looked up the part numbers it came up for a 2wd Tacoma and its seems the ones listed for my truck are about $30 and they don't even have the Lower Frontward ones listed.

sounds like you are good to go
just check your cams n bolt kit when you get them...before you install

What #'s are on the cams
And make sure bolts are correct diameter for bushings
