Made an air intake!

Just looked at the pipe a bit. It apparently will not work, as it has a port to mount the MAF meter, and the stock box also has a port. I guess I could come up with a way to seal off the MAP port on the tube...

does the TRD not come with the whole TRD intake already?
 
Those "baffles" would be resonance chambers. They exist for the purpose of quieting the incoming air at given frequencies, and have nearly no effect on air flow characteristics. I'm happy for you though.

Not just quieting the intake. Heimholz resonators are actually used to time the intake charge and can increase efficiency and torque.

It's the age old story. More noise sounds faster. These engines need as much low end torque as they can muster. That's where they are weakest IMO. I typically mod my cars for more power, but I'm not doing anything to this one unless I can prove a bump in low end torque, which is very unlikely this side of s/c.
