Maintenance light keeps coming on

2006 SR5 with 160K

I'm following the procedure to reset the maintenance light (MAINT). It stays off for a day or so and then comes back on. Searched around and haven't seen this problem elsewhere.

I reset it 3 days ago. It was off yesterday, then I got the tires rotated, and now it's back on.

mine came on sooner than its supposed to also. although, not THAT soon.

mine was months, not days. I also reset it correctly, it was off for a few months, then came on. unfortunately I did not record the mileage at that time, so I cant confirm how much too early it was. but based on my total miles, it was a couple thousand too soon..

I changed the oil, and rest it again, this time recording the mileage.

I have a thread on this same subject, but pretty much with no conclusion as to why. just that I "didn't reset it all the way" lol.

Thanks. I also filled up with gas last night. So maybe adjusting the gas cap will solve it.

In an idiot. I have been pressing the wrong button. Thought I was supposed to push the RESET button that's near the radio. I should've been pushing the little knob by the odometer.
