Manual release for rear hatch on 04?

Hi everybody. I have a hitch rack for my dirt bike, and when I'm assembling it, I'll put parts on the rear bumper. I closed the hatch on a rather large bolt, and the electric closure feature sucked it right in. Now the hatch is stuck closed, and I've no way of opening it.
Something similar happened when the door closed on something inside. I eventually just pulled the item out from the inside, and the door opened, but there's no hope this time.
Is there any way to manually open the hatch?

Assuming you're referring to a 4th generation 4Runner, none that I am aware of.

My hatch got stuck shut one time I crawled inside and removed the plastic cover it is held on with 1 bolt behind the grab strap and many clips and once i was inside i unpluged the electrical plug waited a few minutes then repluged it and the door worked again i guess it reset the ecu. it might work for you.

cool, maybe I'll try that before the dealer takes it. did you happen to notice if there was a latch inside, that you could just pry open (gently!)?

nope no latch inside that I saw try unluging only couple of mins to do you need a 10mm socket good luck

Hmmm. It might be worth a try to disconnect the battery and then try opening it with the key.
