I've been hunting for a full shop mechanics repair manual for a 2013 4runner since buying in 2017; as with all 7 mechanical vehicles I own; I have full repair manuals, some old paperbacks, others in pdf's, if needed I have a guide to fully dismantle and repair everything.

Newer than, 4th gen and newer, 4 runners shop mechanics repair manual just don't seem to be available, except through the Toyota dealership website. Good for Toyotas revenue; but expensive and problematic for someone who likes to review stuff just for reference to get an idea how it all works … I did download the zipped pdf links here but couldn't get them to open.

There is a pdf downloadable for 19.99 on from manual4you.com; anyone tried this? They seem to have some unsatisfied costumers on the negative reviews, so hesitant to buy / try.

Also found a Haynes (or was it Chilton's) had just printed a 09-19 Tacoma repair manual; that should work for the 4 runner; there ok but not a direct compatible rep man.

Haynes died. Kids don't care to keep it going from what I hear.

The reality is that less people are working on their cars which make repair manuals less cost effective.


They literally have to buy a car strip it and put it all back together to make these books. It can't be cheap. I welcome a repair manual but I think Factory Service Manuals is as good as it get for now.

I grew up on Haynes and Chiltons and lament the loss of both for more modern vehicles. It sucks that these DIY type of books are a thing of the past. Flipping through the grease smeared pages saved me boatloads of money doing my own repairs over the years and taught me a lot about mechanic work.


*edit* Just bought one from that site for a 2015 4Runner which should do what I/we need. Ill take a look at see if its worthwhile.

All in all its seems pretty in-depth and should be adequate for whatever a DIY mechanic might tackle. Im not a fan of PDFs, I like having the book opened on the garage floor but such is the way of the digital age.

Worth it for $20 IMO. I'm at the office on a fiber optic line so my download speeds were pretty quick but its a 275MB file so shouldn't be long anyway.

Seems a pretty good document albeit not as user friendly as a Haynes/Chilton but sufficient.

Look up your 4runner then literature/repair manual $20.70 + shipping.

They do ALL gens 4runners.
Example is 4th gen.

Print what you need if you hate trees.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear, I was frustrated. It wasn't someone from here selling them (at least not to my knowledge) This stuff has been discussed here, at length, dozens upon dozens of times.

A Genuine Toyota manual, for example, is available in limited quantities in print to the tune of 7 manuals for about $1400, if available ( Helm Incorporated: Product Search Engine ). The online version is available through Toyota TIS for anywhere from $20 for 2-days to $1295 for a year. Toyota - New Subscription

Just because you find a site on the internet selling stuff in no way means that it is a legitimate business. So no, the sight you found is not legit. They are selling manuals acquired from various places (like from here, for instance) and selling them... and now they have your credit card info.

TIS is where what you just paid for came from. You could obviously do the right thing and pay for the legit use instead of paying who knows who for something they stole.

Nope I don't work for Toyota. You should read my posts a little more carefully to avoid misquoting or confusion. Do you work for the vendor selling ripped versions of manuals?

I don't need to explain what has been written here a dozen or so different times already. I suppose if you knew how to web search you could figure that out too. But whatever.

I am just trying to save other people from paying and possibly giving personal/payment info to an illegitimate website for something they don't need to, regardless of price.

Help some brothers and sisters out and share that .pdf, assuming that it's different from what's already been given in the earlier post. After all, you did ask for feedback and opinions and got them. So share that thing for the good of the cause!!!!

I think all of this could be settled by posting a page from the manual4you version showing the installation or removal of a 2014+ specific part. I dunno, like the front bumper cover for instance...
