I saw your buddy in the green runner on the freeway yesterday. He was getting on the 10 in Redlands. I was in the Thunder Cloud 4runner, not sure if he saw me

So Saturday morning I pulled off my 5 piece savage skids in preparation to sell to 2kTortoise here on the forums. I had heard a mystery rattle for the last month and finally discovered what it was. The stock little skid covering the transfer case had all but fallen off. Of the 4 mounting tabs on it three had broken off and at speed over bumps was banging into my Savage Skids. You can see the mark it made. (circled in red). Just another reason to run aftermarket full skids. the factory skids are pretty much worthless.

Thanks for the sale. I repainted them before I mounted them. The skid plates are really stout and I am very happy with them. I cant wait to see your new set of skid plates from Roy. Hopefully when your skid plates are done we can go out on a wheeling trip.

You'll love it.
I've got one and honestly its one of my favorite skids. The ramp shaped bottom allows you to slide over rocks without hanging up on the drain plug like before. It hugs the diff real close, drains water great and the way it mounts up is ingenious. I was on the fence for awhile about buying it but I've been extremely pleased.
Awesome thread by the way I've been in a few times drooling over those rear shocks!

Thanks. Yeah the rear icons are the bomb on the whoops and washboard because you can just dial em down with the CDC valving. I love them.

Ocotillo Wells wheeling photos. Pics of the line up, gas dome mud pits, pumpkin patch, sunrise at camp etc,
I enjoyed running some of the tight canyons in the river beds as well.
I discovered its time for some new inner tie rods. I am glad I made it home and finished a day and a half of wheeling without anything breaking but boy do I have a lot of slop in my steering wheel right now.

Just read through the entire threat. Looks like we go to a lot of the same places and will have similarly set up trucks. My icon stuff should be here today and I can't wait to get up to Big Bear and then Ocotillo Wells / Anza Borrego. We have friends out by Truck Haven, so spend a lot of time out there.

So yesterday I pulled my cheapo Chinese HID's and put back in Silverstar Ultra's. They had developed a short and the drivers side would flicker. I still might eventually do a HID conversion from the retrofit source but for right now I just needed a quick fix.
Also I cut off my recovery hook and added this Factor 55 Prolink I picked up on Ebay for a $85. It was fun to do a little wrenching and upgrades.

Today I added some round LED off-road lights I got last year in the vendor tent at the King of the Hammers. Originally I was going to replace my harbor freight tractor lights (used in the fog light cutouts) with these but the new LED lights were a half inch too big to fit into the ODL bumper fog light holes. I had Roy Lewis from Savage Off-Road fab up some 90 degree light tabs for me and mounted them on my bumper. Took it out for a spin tonight on a local dirt road. They are awesome. The pic below with the lights on is my 4runner in the driveway with me standing in the garage. Sorry for the cruddy cell phone pics.

BTW the new off-road LED lights worked amazing getting back to the main road leaving our friends camp tonight. I had planned on leaving earlier but they convinced me to stay till dark and join their potluck. The lights lit up the night and worked great.
On another note my kids got to go for their first quad rides today. We don't own any but our friends were awesome and shared theirs. My nine year old Robby the whole way home had only one theme..."Dad when can I get my own quad?"
