I was lucky enough to sell mine for what I paid for it. $150 both ways (I think). I'm currently eyeing up Savage Offroads that currently runs between $499 and $649 depending on options.

I picked up an project from last fall, converting the cloth inserts on my doors to leather. The previous owner was a smoker (thankfully, no smell) and there was ash marks on the cloth.

My process is first ripping of the existing cloth and cutting out a piece of leather at the same size. I then scrape off the foam left on the door panel (will attach more pictures of this process), fit the leather, and glue it with the Elmer's spray on. I then let that dry and then hot-glue the piece of black, plastic like material (screen spline). I also have 8mm black leather cord on the way that I'm going to hot-glue on top of the spline. I have three doors to the spline step and the last hasn't been touched. In the next post, I'll include a start to finish process.

just looked these up and youre right about the lower cost than most. I'm not looking for something to wheel like a mad man, so this will do once I've got the cash. itll look great on your rig.

Most of my off the road stuff is sand so I don't need something heavy and as bulky as an ARB. The Savage Bumper also gives you the option of a winch tray (which I would opt out of) because I don't really have a use for a winch and don't want the extra weight. I'm hoping to get it sometime next summer but before if possible. If I pull the trigger before you, depending on where in VA you are, you're more than welcome to come check it out and see how you like it.

Get her a good cleaning today, inside and out as well as put some new wiper blades on as mine needed replacing. I also got my carpet samples in from stockinteriors.com. I've narrowed it down to two I think I like but looking for input.

JDM engine, timing belt, and water pump came in today. Hopefully the swap will begin in the next few days.

Crappy cell phone pictures but nothing really worth updating. I found a set of front Weather Tech floor mats on Craigslist and managed to get those and 5 OEM oil filters for $80. Only a passenger picture as most everyone knows what the Weather Tech's look like, this is more for just a personal record.

Good news and bad news: the good news being that the JDM is in and running great. The bad news being that there was a coolant leak. The intake has been pulled back apart and one of the tubes was cracked (possibly during the shipping of the engine). Once that is cleared up, she will be home and some additional plans will be started towards building her.

Considering some of the recent horror stories I've heard/read about, I'm feeling like I dodged a bullet. Mark started off the phone call with, "I've got some good news and some bad news", which kinda scared me a little but glad all is well. Hopefully tomorrow is the day.

The swap is done! :whoo:
No more shaking, weird sounds, or crappy miles per gallon (about 13.5). Also no more blinking "Check Engine" light accompanied by the two VCS lights.
A list of what was completed with the swap:
(1) Timing belt/Water pump kit
(1) Rear main seal
(2) Com. seal
(1) Crank seal
(1) Thermostat
(2) Intake gaskets
(3) Exhaust gaskets
(2) Exhaust manifold gaskets
(1) Coolant
Also have some Lower Ball Joints (OEM) on the way tomorrow and plan on doing them in the next few weeks as well as the "Big 3" wiring upgrade.

Congrats! It's a huge accomplishment. I'm a bit jealous as I just finished my and I'm still chasing a check engine light. :frusty: What was the issue causing the light? HG?
Also, you will need a pitman arm puller for the LBJs....ask me how I know. Haha

I found some LBJ's forsale in the suspension section for $170 shipped. I do however need to pick up some additional mounting bolts and I also plan on rebooting the CV's as they're starying to rip.
Was the arm puller completely necessary or could you get by without it? Did you go with a JDM as well? I picked mine up from Japanese Engine Import in Manassas. Is yours running well even with the light? Do you have a code reader? I know of someone who can look at it for you and probably tell you the source of what's causing your check engine light. He's a master tech at Priority but does a lot of work on his own in his spare time.
And the engine had an oil leak, coolant leak, one completely dead cylinder (0 psi on a compression test), and a head gasket problem. It was time for a new one, to say the least.

Definitely necessary. I thought I could get by with bashing it, but I ended up going out and buying one. I'd be more than happy to lend it to you. I know you're in VB as well, and wouldn't mind coming over to lend a hand.
Mine is running however, I have a been fighting the knock sensor codes (P0325and P0330). I have a thread here....
