I also just placed an order for a 4XInnovations rear bumper. Adam said it should ship out this week so I'm hoping that it's in by Thanksgiving so I can install it over my holiday break.
Options I got: Swing out, Hi-Lift mount, Single jerry can mount
I'm eventually going to add a dual jerry can mount, I just don't like how low it sits on the bumper so I opted for the single mount for the extra framing he does with the jerry can mounts. Stoked to get this in and installed!

Woe! Big changes! Did you change the coilover settings much from their shipped factory settings? If so, how much? I would like to see some pics of the current overall stance if you have them. Oh, and what are your hub to fender measurements?

Congrats on the Kings, and congrats on your rear bumper selection. I am sure you will be happy with the route you went.

I haven’t changed up the preload at all. I’m waiting to see if they settle before moving them around. Right now, they feel a little higher than I’m used to with the Icons but I’m sure settling will fix that. Also waiting on the rear bumper weight to see how much sag I get. I’m sure I’ll be going to 861s so I don’t want to have too much rake either.

I’m heading to the local Cars and Coffee this Sunday so I’ll make sure to get some decent photos of it as-is and I’ll get some measurements too. I’ll have the current bumper off by then so I’m sure I’ll have plenty of rake but that shouldn’t affect the front too much, if at all.

Stoked on the bumper purchase. It wasn’t as much of a discount as I wanted, but I had the money waiting for it and figured I might as well spend the money like I said I would. Was eyeing the 4X and Savage closely but I like the aesthetics of this one so much more. I have a few plans to alter it to my liking as well so I think I went the right route.

For your rear bumper, are you running Sonoran Steel’s rear body mounts? If so, did you install them with the bumper or after?

Cool.

Yeah, I installed my SS body mounts as well as the OME 861 coils before final rear bumper install. The rear body mounts are easier to mount with the rear bumper removed. I would advise just ordering them now so that you have them for install. Many would probably echo the same about replacing the body mounts.

About the SS body mounts. Do them while the bumpers off. If not you'll be taking it off again to do them.

Body mounts ordered and on the way. Should be here before the bumper so I'll be good to go. Kind of surprised how quick the bumper is shipping too. Should be in the mail this week. If the bumper beats the body mounts, I don't know if I'm going to be patient enough to wait for the body mounts.

Can't blame you on waiting to go for the F&R lockers. I'm hoping that's me this time next year. By then, I'll need new tires and if I go with a 35, that'll help me with decide on a gear ratio.

Ah. I looked at the Kings just wish they had a complete set such as this. I need to make my ride completey cadillac due to personal issues(medical). I want to keep exploring for as long as I can before I lose everything..

Although not in as complete as a kit, Kings and something like ADS have progressive valving compared to Icon’s digressive valving which results in a more comfortable ride for daily driving and slower hits as well. I’d definitely consider the differences in valving before making a decision cause that makes all the difference. There’s not much info on this forum about it but if you go on TacomaWorld, there’s tons of comparisons and reviews on each, way more than what I could tell you.

Thank you. I've read a lot of these and TacomaWorld + Yota forums. Spent a lot of time and it's not set in stone what i'm going to do yet but everything points to the ICON due to what I want to do and to keep doing it. But I haven't made the decision yet. I've read the issues & benefits of both, what I hate is I'm just reading not experiencing...

I've voiced my opinion before that someone needs to somehow allow lift & tire trials at a off-road park or something similar. I've seen ICON do a few test runs before but that was a while ago.

Thank you again for the response and i'll be sure to read everything before I make the final decision. Love the build and keep it up :)

Yeah man, of course.

I completely agree with the way to try everything. And unfortunately, there's not many friends of mine into cars so there wasn't a way for me to try either. Knowing what I know now, I would've done Kings right away cause they're a little more comfortable for my style of driving, with it being primarily a DD, but you live and you learn.

And thanks man! I'll be keeping an eye on yours as well, excited to see what you end up with.
 
Maintenance

Oil and Filter change at 229,349 miles.

Rear swing out is in, however the bumper is still in shipping. Should be here Monday. Swing out will be painted by then and body mounts will be on.
 
4X-Innovations Rear Bumper

Over 4X-Innovations Black Friday sale, I ordered one of their rear bumpers with the swingout tire carrier, hi-lift mount, and single jerry can holder. It came in the mail just before Thanksgiving and installed it over my break. That went in with Sonoran Steel's Rear Body Mounts and install was pretty straight forward. Stoked on how solid this bumper is. The locking mechanism on the swing out is way easier to use than I had expected, and the swing out moves nicely with the bearings in there.

Also noticed a small coolant leak at the top of my radiator so I went ahead and ordered a Champion Radiator (Part No. CC1998) and new upper and lower radiator hoses. Should be in later this week or early next so I'll go ahead and swap that guy in.

Pretty stoked on it. And kind of surprised on the amount of rear lift I still have. I haven't measured anything to see if I sit level or what. Regardless, I think I'll be upgrading to 861's sometime soon.

Thanks Ryder! I really like it, very happy to get the old tube bumper off. I also haven't forgotten about getting hub to fender measurements for you. Think the 4Runner still has some settling to do and I'm still pretty loaded up with surf stuff and laundry from taking it all to my parents for Thanksgiving.




Have a question as well. Are my pictures very dark on your computer? I'm at the library right now and they look pretty damn dark compared to when I'm on my computer at home. Wondering if it's just this computer or if my computer makes everything that might brighter.
