Max lean angle?

Been doing some searching for an answer and can't find one, most threads relate to the minor lean from the gas tank and battery. Anyone know what the max safe lean angle before rollover is? I was on an off camber hill the other day and we all know it feels like tipping is imminent but in reality I'm sure I wasn't even close. Anyone know for sure?

Probably somewhere around 33%
On anything but the highest traction surfaces, you will slide sideways before tipping over. Just have to be sure you don't slide into something that will stop your tires and guarantee rollover.

The max lean angle is probably wayyy more than your gut feeling can handle. I remember one time I was going over a berm, and me and the wife felt like we're on the verge of tipping over. Got out of the truck just to take a picture, and you could barely even see the leaning, lols.

There's probably no hard number out there because there's a lot of variables to consider, such as how much weight you're carrying up top and down low. ie. heavily loaded roof rack + one passenger will probably tip over way before an empty roof rack + 4 passengers.
 
So many factors go into this that not every rig will be the same. Lift, tires, accessories, passengers, etc all play a part.
 
This is pretty close to flopping.

Not sure why the sliding aspect didn't occur to me. That's a good point.
 
as said above, there are a lot of different factors. track width, and cg being big ones.
that said, they can generally go over a LOT more than you think before they flop.

having flopped my truck on its side several times, I know this to be true. lol.
 
Well if you are just parked or on a smooth slope, your CG has to rotate past the edge of the tire for it to roll. But don't be mistaken that you're safe as long as you don't go past that angle. As your CG rotates around the edge of your tire and approaches tipping, the amount of energy needed to push the truck past the tipping point decreases at the cosine of the angle (with the horizontal plane). This means that if the truck is nearly at the tipping point, very little energy is needed to push it over such as a bump in the road. I rolled my runner onto its side a few months ago, and I didn't feel like I was anywhere near rolling but my right tire hit a tree stump and just that was enough force to push me over. Similarly that's why you see pictures of a few guys just hanging onto the bumper of a few thousand pound vehicle and stopping it from tipping.
