IL is not right......there is no max for rear but there is definately a max for the front (35%). in the suburbs of chicago, people get pulled over for having 35% tints.

In VA the tint can not create a "Rainbow affect" or be "mirrored"-that goes for the partial mirrored stuff as well. Also...no colored tint (ie-blue, red, etc) Only black with 50% allowed on the rear and 35% on the front. I know this as I am a cop in VA.

^^Are you sure those numbers arent backwards? I dont know of anyone who would put darker tine on the front htan the rear...

Those numbers are reversed, When the company listed them they apparently did not explain correctly. For instance in NY 70% is listed. This does not mean you can put on 70% tint, It means you must allow 70% light transmittance throught window which would allow a total tint on window to = 30%. The thing is, out of the factory 95% of car windows have a 20% tint (80% light trans.) in the stock glass. Why would you bother tinting 10%, wouldn'y be worth the money.

Those numbers that I posted were for the amount of light that is BLOCKED---not WHAT IT ALLOWS IN. That is how it is written in the state code.

By the way, In VA if a cop stops you and his tint meter states you have, lets say, 40% on the front, you are still all good. The VA state code also says that owners can have a cushion of 7%, so in essence you can have up to a 42% tint(again, amount of light blocked).

I understood your posting as amount of light blocked. As I stated it is definately reversed for N.Y. The legal limit for amount of light blocked is 30% hence 70% of light transmittance. Which would reflect the 70% shown in the list. NYS Vehicle & Traffic law is written to reflect amount of light let in. This is a logical way for the law to be written since tint meters measure the amount of light passing thru, not the amount blocked. At least in my 13 years enforcing it with various meter models I have yet to come across with a meter that shows tint level. I would doubt the accuracy of anything giving a tint level since percentages can be affected by scratched as well as dirt thus giving the amount of light getting thru.

In AR the tint levels cannot excede 35% on the front windows, by state law.
