LOL....that poor suspension has lead such a sheltered life! That truck was breathing a sigh of relief!
That is still the stock suspension (150,000 miles on it). A few more trips out like this, and I will buying new shocks for it!

I have thought about going with lights on the roof, but I just don't think the benefit outweighs the gas mileage. I have thought about cutting 2 square holes in the faring and installing two more lights into the faring, but I think I will probably just leave it alone.

Well the wife and I just took a little Christmas Eve trip up to the Four Peaks area in Central Arizona. A nice little drive up the highway, then 18 miles of worthless washboard rough road to get to the trail head that allows you to summit Brown's Peak. We were a little shocked to find 4 inches of snow covering the trail. So I in my shorts, and my wife bundled up (she being the smart one) treked off into the wilderness for a nice little hike. We didn't make the summit this time, it was getting late in the day, and the trail was getting tougher and tougher to follow with all the snow.
I stopped for a minute on the way back down to snap this shot with my cell phone. Thought it was nice...snow in Arizona!

It may not have much to do with 4Runners...but I did use the 4Runner to get to the trail head

It that Tim's 4runner with you (soaztim)?? You guys should've ran the whole trail, than again you would've gotten alot of pinstripping on the last part of the trail :bash:
Sunflower is a fun trail and it was the first I ran in Az.
I had to tugged up to spots on the last part of the trail. No locker and I kept getting crossed up.

Yeah that's Tim's Runner. I met him on the TTORA forum and we have gone mountain biking once, and wheeling once. I need to hook up with him again, he knows all the trails, and is terrific at guiding someone like me ( a newbie ) through the tougher stuff.
Nearest skiing to me is up in Flagstaff...about 3 hours. But it's not that great. I am used to big mountains from the Northwest.

Well, we set out on an adventure yesterday. We have been planning a hiking trip for several weeks to summit the highest of Arizona's famous 4-Peaks. Lucky for us, mother nature had BIG plans! I haven't seen rain so hard, so continuously since I moved to AZ several years ago. It was STUPID up there! Pouring rain, gusty winds, fog, and near freezing temps. We made it 2 miles into the trail before I decided that it was just way to wet, and way to cold to be doing this type of hike. So, we headed out with our tail between our legs.
However, we did take the rest of the afternoon to explore some back roads. Mostly easy stuff, a car could handle, but we did get into a few little spur trails that had us in 4 wheel drive.
Here are some photos. Nothing crazy, just glamor shots...oh and one of the MILLION puddles I plowed through yesterday! I love puddles.

Went out for an 18 mile round trip overnighter this weekend. We took the 4Runner, but it was stuck at the trail head all weekend while I hiked. I felt bad for it when we got back from the hike, so I took it's picture, and told it I would post. It's happy again...see the smily faces?

At least I found some clean water this trip! This was the creek crossing to get onto the coolest forest service road I have ever seen! Half of the road, is in the creek, just further up a canyon. I wanted to take some photos, but the water was pretty low, and there were people all over the place. Next time it rains I am going to go up there and play in the creek with some other 4x4 friends. Expect some good photos from that...this is just a teaser!
