Melted OEM AUX switch wires

...It's possible that could fry the switch if you had it so that the signal wire, when depressed connected to the ground wire since I don't believe that would be fused unless that's the 5a fuse you were talking about before, in which case it would have tripped.

Not necessarily...could have been a 'resistive' short...remember, it is a coil, so maybe only part of it shorted out, but still have a enough resistance to prevent a dead short and blow the fuse...

But I have no real answer or suggestions since I don't have a clear picture of the actual circuit...

A good multimeter might come in handy though...you can do a DC resistance measurement of the relay coil...

Ok, i figured it out.

First tested all connections, all were good and getting power correctly. I tested the relay and it showed i was getting power at the relay but not to the light bar. I then tested the power wire to the battery and the light worked somewhat so i then looked at the ground. I unhooked where i grounded it and then touched both terminals to the +/- and the bar was fine, lit up like normal.

From there i made a different ground and tested it all and it worked great. So i patched everything back up, set it all up and works great.

My guess is the ground shorted out the diode and the diode burned up protecting the switch. Just glad i figured it out, was beginning to frustrate me.
