Memorial Day Weekend in Death Valley

Well I just got back from a nice trip to Death Valley. It has been a long week, started off by doing some scuba diving down in San Diego and then drove straight to Ridgecrest, a few hours outside of Death Valley on Friday night where I met up with Schuyler. After a nights rest we headed out early the next morning to Death Valley where we wheeled for the day. Saturday night we found a great remote camp site and spent the night there. Sunday we also spent wheeling and exploring until we went in and spent the night at a hotel in lone pine. Monday we woke up and explored the White Mountains. Overall we did a bit over 200 miles of trails.

Overall it was an amazing trip and I am looking forward to heading back sometime soon. I am really looking forward to seeing Schuylers photos and he actually knows what he is doing with a camera, unlike me.

Anyway here are just some of my close to 300 photos…

On my drive to San Diego to Death Valley I saw a Hilux, which is always surprising to see in the US.

You got some great shots there! When I have a few ready I will post a link on my site for d/l.

I am still working on photos and I'll attach some soon. As far as trails go we started off of Saline Valley Road West of Panamint Springs and then turned to Hunter Mountain Road. Followed that around to Goldbelt Springs and over to Lost Burro Mine. We took the road going East of Lost Burro and found some great campsites around 7000 feet among the Pinon Pines (and some "more interesting" trail). Then we headed to Teakettle and went East to Uhebehe Crater and doubled back to the Racetrack. Explored a bit more and came down Lipponcott/Uhebehe Road. Retraced our steps and ran into some guys that were doing a 10 day ride. Monday we headed to the Bristlecone Forest in the White mountains. We used Wyman Canyon to get up to the area and came down Silver Canyon.

Ok here goes...as Blair knows I am planning on going up to Nor Cal and Oregon next week. I am busy getting ready for this trip so I am not posting everything...but here are some of the highlights... Enjoy!

I wouldn't mind trying to organize trips but don't really know what you guys have done for the logistics when it comes to large groups and such. If anyone who organizes trips has info to share I'd love to hear how such things are dealt with when organizing a larger group. Drop me a PM.
