Midwest 3rd Gen BS Thread - WI, MI, IA, MN, IL, IN

Grand Rapids area Michigan here. Current project is a SAS 3rd gen and a 84 tdi swap.
Anyone needs anything or advice feel free to let me know!!!

Brother it would be flaming to put the above quote in my post for the engine choice but it's really not the best diesel engine to slide into a 3rd gen. My hamster cage of a 4cyl gers better fuel economy and out powers that little thing. Diesel swaps are cool but u would try for the 3.0 1kzte or the newer one. The name escapes me this morning though.

In a third Gen the 3.0 diesel would be better but for my first Gen 150hp diesel is plenty!
 
Just figured I'd say hello in this thread. Currently living in Rochester, MN and moving up to the cities early this summer, got into dental school at UMN. If anyone from MSP/St Paul has suggestions on where good/bad areas are for buying a house I'm all ears, please PM me. Also hoping to do a VERY budget lift on the 4runner soon, picked up some tundra 5100's and might toss in a daystar 1.5" rear shim to give me maybe an inch or so over stock. Already have a 1.5" body lift on but still rub tires with my new wheels and 265/75-16 BFG's.
 
I retract all statements I made in fun of the Packers. I am now a packers fan until the Vikings sign a new kicker and put Blair Walsh on the soonest plane out of this frozen state of hell.

Football aside.
My update consists of me looking at every damn t4r under the sun and not finding "the one". On the plus side though I have been watching and reading about everything I can get my hands on. the t4r is something completely new to me and I have hardly ever wrenched on a vehicle, so I have a lot to learn.

Good luck up in the midwest. Lots of people will tell you to go south and drive it up. I found mine and have stripped/broken most bolts as I progress. Worth investing in a tap/die set!

Every now and then you can find a hidden gem though!

Look out west. I picked my runner up in Washington. Socal is good too but the price has hiked out rhere. Pretty much Texas and west in the south is a good bet as long as it didn't come from back east lol.

If you are going to maintain it yourself try to find one of the 4 banger 3rz 4x4 or at least consider it. The engine is a lot easier to work on as there is space under the hood to reach in. Also you get 3/4 of the power with the v6...and 20+ mpg. Just saying.

3rz trolllolol!! I want one just so I can turbo it and make all the s/C v6 guys cry lol

The problem is that I would like to look at it and at least test drive it. If I head all the way to either coast or down south then it's quite possibly a waste of my time and money if it does not work out.
