100% agree on snow tires are must in the Midwest snow. It totally changed my 4runner. I run blizzaks on everything I own. My wife's highlander is an absolute beast in the snow! Nothing has stopped it yet. The steering and stopping capabilities with blizzaks are what impress me. I never use 4wd in my 4Runner unless the roads are completely covered.

Houghton Lake, MI. checking in. A 98 LE with 172 K on the clock. We have 6 inches of fresh powder on the roads here today. Street tires on and I still feel safe and in control.
Fifteen years of ownership will do that.

Checking in from sunny Omaha, NE. There's a gaggle of us around here and Lincoln. I agree with SURF RUNNER, Missouri doesn't count. Frankly, I've never really understood the definition of "mid-west". Got's to be careful, this could easily turn into a football smack talking thread. I'd be fine with that personally.

Well, how about NE Ohio here? I think we're considered Midwest, too.

How many are from within about 150 miles of Cleveland area? Every time I find somebody with parts, they're 250-500 miles away! LOL

My ride is a 1998 T4R, auto, with 175K miles on the clock. I'm dealing with the "rusty pumpkin" (aka, rear diff cover leaks from rust pinhole).

Fresh powder maaaaaan! Came out of work tonight and there's a bunch of light fluffy stuff on the ground and more falling. Put it in 4WD, cocked the wheel, and romped on the gas... sideways fun!

I used to dread winter driving but as long as you can avoid the numbnuts, it's pretty fun and I look forward to it.

My Duratracs are pretty good in the snow, I ran Firestone Winterforce tires for a couple years and they were fine too. Never had any trouble with my BF Goodrich ATs either. That's in snow though, the 100% ice we had last week was a lost cause no matter the tires or speed traveled.

Hey guys! looks like we all had some fresh snow today! Perhaps since we have a group of minds at work here we could finally outline the scope of what is actually the "midwest"
from Montana south to arizona is "west"
SoDak,MN,WI,MI,IN,IL,IA,NEB,KS,MS and possibly OK comprise the "midwest"
ND doesnt count, I was born in SD and Mount Rushmore Keeps them on the map. ND has the world largest TV tower at 2,060' and once you've seen that its just 250,000 Sq Miles of looking for a way out and hoping you don't run out of gas.
Ohio gets tossed in there on CNN during an election year, but until you have2-3X more Livestock than humans I'm not ready to hand out the "midwest" club jacket.
Ok seriously though it's nice to see there are more of me out there looking at all the rocky,mountainous,flex-porn on here and wishing I had a place to play that would justify the ICON stage 2 kit I've been eyballing since the day I bought my runner.ray2:

This is all obviously just for laughs, after all the Cowboys are in the NFC East so whats the point?

Getting lots of snow here in WI tonight, finally! I installed Cooper Discover ATs a few weeks ago, and wow are they a huge improvement over my old Discover HT tires with 50k miles on them. I drove home tonight at 55mph on completely snow covered road. Very predictable, great stopping, great overall traction in 2wd with no weight in the back Im very impressed and would recommend them to anyone looking for a new tire.

Time to pull out the skis!

Go Packers! I may live in Alabama, but I'm an Eagles fan, and there's nothing I would rather see than the Packers beat the crap out of the Cowboys. Especially after the reffing in that Lions game...

Chicago (~ish) here too! Not much snowfall last night, only about 2.5 inches around my area. I do love getting to use my 4WD though!

We got a solid 5-6 inches of powder here in Indy overnight, I was up at 3:30 to drive my gf downtown for her rotation at the hospital. It was glorious, just me and a few big rigs on I65, cruising straight and true at 55-60mph on my snow tires in 4Hi. She only needed to be there at 4:50 am and was convinced the drive would take a long time. I pleasantly surprised her when it only took the usual 30 minutes that it takes her to drive down there in clear weather :tea:

By the time I had to drive to work myself at 7:30 the roads were basically cleared, no fun!

I've been to bis/mandan a few times, Minot AFB, and several trips to Fargo. I really meant no disrespect there, just having some fun at ND's expense. And my favorite North Dakotan, "I have always said I would not have been president had it not been for my experience in North Dakota." Sure Theodore Roosevelt wasn't from ND but we claim him as one of our own.

I would ask if anybody else has someone famous from their state but I'm sure your lists are much longer than ND's and would take up the whole thread!
