Every time I roll through your neck of the woods on my way to Madison I think about stopping in to explore the town but I'm never in my 4runner. It would cost me about $200 in gas one way with my mpg these days!

you should stop by sometime we have 3 4runners so you could ride with one of us and we could check out one of our local trails lol.

Limited I can just push a button to go into 4Hi on the fly at any speed under 60mph.

Our 4Runners are definitely disadvantaged in winter high speed driving by the huge ground clearance, short wheelbase, and (relatively) low weight and fat tires. For me, snow tires have totally transformed my winter driving experience!

I specifically looked for a 99+ limted so that I didn't have to switch it when I hit dry roads.

As far as tires go i run 265 75 r16 General Grabber AT2'sWhere the Rubber Meets the Road | Expedition Portal and I love them! they are great in snow and the tread does a pretty good job self clearing offroad.

Jitters is here. Although originally from Wyoming. We need more snow here in the Midwest so I can use my new xc skis!

Fairly recent transplant to Indianapolis, I'm from Ithaca NY originally. Bought this 1996 Limited locally 2 summers ago, it hadn't seen a winter since 2002! Undercoated liberally and is now a total beast in the snow (General Altimax Arctic 245/75R16 on Tacoma rims)
Most of the fun roads I take it on are actually back home in NY, basically poorly maintained forest roads. All of the ones in the HNF here in Indiana seem very well graded, any sedan could easily drive them.

Been wondering what Hoosier NF is like, it's the only federal forest in the state, and there isn't much by way of federal lands here (other than the dunes managed by the NPS - is that where your beach shot is at?). Otherwise, I'm lucky if I see off road once a semester. :/

Nice snow commute. Sounds like a true gentleman. And of course the excuse to drive in some good snow.

I'm in Indianapolis... Do not post much, but always browsing!

Whats up guys, just moved back to the midwest after spending 7 years in the seattle area. Truck has been a west coast truck and I think the drive back east was the first time the truck ever saw road salt. Been lucky enough to have an extra car at my dad's place that I can drive, kills me to expose such a clean truck to the MN salt. Moving to Chicago in a few weeks so when the weather warms up keep an eye out for me down there. Hoping to do a bunch of camping in WI and MI this summer.

We should have a get together, we/I are really into camping and I would love to test my expo trailer out.

As far as road salt goes it does suck, I have a southern truck as well. What you can do is have it undercoated every year with fluid film and it will stay like new.
