The beach shot is actually in the NC Outer Banks, went there this past summer with the gf and the dogs for a week. Got a week long offroad pass, oh so worth it! Amazing what airing down tires does for sand driving, it was a real eye opener.
Yeah the lack of interesting roads sucks, there are a lot of cool old fire roads, but all are chained off and off limits. There used to be this one down near Brown County that apparently all the Jeep guys flocked to, starts right at Story Indiana, called Combs road I believe. Shut down a while back once it became so eroded you basically needed to be fully locked to make it through (or so I hear).
Nice! Maybe all us Indy folks should plan a wheeling trip sometime. I just need to get some decent tires on my '96 first, my summer wheels have Grabber HTS highway rubber on them.

Haven't been on here much lately...seem to be a lot of Indy guys popping up.
There's been 6-8 of us that get together every year. We usually take a day and head out to Badlands in Attica. Maybe we can get some thing this spring once it warms up.

Anyone Here from central Illinois? I frequently make it over to the badlands in Attica. The place is great and I mostly ride dirtbikes and atvs there, but I have seen many a jeep completely submerged there. I have to do some digging but I got an old pic of a a guy completely rolling his brand new H2 there. If some forum Guys plan a trip over to Attica I will be sure to make an appearance with my piece of junk haha.

4th Gen here but a midwest prisoner like the rest. Where'd all you Indy guys come from? Im in the Fishers area. Ive been posting on here for a bit and never get much response. Been to Attica and Redbird but more frequently make camping/wheeling trip to KY and TN.

Cool! I'm 100% down for a 4Runner get together, 3rd gen 4th gen, whatever! I'm on the northwest side of town near Whitestown. I haven't been to any of the offroad parks, I mostly prefer to snoop around all the dirt back roads near Brown County in search of cool camping spots or places to launch a canoe. But it seems that in Indiana all the dirt roads through the woods are very well maintained that any old sedan could make it through. So I'm pretty much a novice at any sort of technical offroading, I'd stay to the easier trails on my first visit. My truck may be a '96 but trail damage does not sound fun. Debating on splurging on some A/T tires for my summer wheels, or just going with snow tires in a pinch. My Grabber HTS summer tires are fantastic for the highway but pretty hopeless in any off-road scenario.
Are there any cool public-accessible fire roads in any of the forests in Indiana? I'm from Central/Upstate NY and we had a lot of these under-maintained, washed out 2 tracks that were fun to drive without really risking any damage or needing serious skid plates or sliders.

There are a few, but not many. I feel the same way about mine, its my DD so I don't push it and don't want to damage it. That being said, you can easily spend the day out at Badlands. The last time we went, there were 12 of us, all different degrees of mods. No one got left behind...and no damage that I know of.

There's also a place down in Bloomington, at Lake Monroe. Its only a few miles worth of trails though, so it won't take up a full day. Good for a couple guys...
