Mikey's Build Thread...

So I believe I have tracked down my pop sound. Looks like at my last alignment the tech either left the front driver side can loose or tightened it so it was "upside down". Looking at the cam it appears to not even contact the side gusset wall, there is about a 2 mm gap on one side. It also now appears the other side is slightly bent and I mean slight. Going to get an alignment soon and have the cam flipped up and see if that helps. If there is still a gap due to the bend then a set of gussets from TC will be on order.

I just read through all 31 pages of your build. Love it. Wish I could afford a 5th gen, but we gotta save for a house and get out of this rat hole we are in. Keep up the great work!!

I just see the potential of dust for certain and maybe water at a spray both car wash entering the interior of the truck. Where you gaps ( flex spot(s) ) are along the trim allows a nice entry for dust. Thats why im curious to see the underneath work. That dust cover on the vent does little for you on dirt/gravel roads.

Here's some images:

I have this problem from the lower trim to the bumper. That space has to be there for flex movement. However it allows dust to enter the interior.

Im trying to work out the best way to stop it without blocking the vent up.

Hey Mikey, first off I wanna say your build is Awesome! Second I was wondering if you had any dust/ dirt issues inside the cab. I'm interested in getting a rear bumper from 4x4 Labs, looks like Luke does some fine work.

Hijack!... No issues with dust/dirt inside mine and I've been in the Sierras, Moab, CO... all this year. no troubles and the flaps are keeping me clean. It really isn't a huge issue at all. Yes, Luke does top notch work. I am bias though... Depending on where you are, taking a look in person will convince you if you still have doubts. I'm in Davis and Mikey is in the East Bay (I think).

Yup dust isn't an issue for me either and I have done some high speed dirt roads and goodies.

Luke's work is art. His group of guys do awesome work.

And Ben you are right I am in the east bay.

Holo if you want to check one out let us know.

It is the Tepui Kukenam, and it is awesome. It is a three person but will probably only be me and the boss. PLENTY of room in this guy. Oh and it is easy to set up and take down by myself, which you all probably already know.

Got a Death Valley trip in a couple of weeks to test it out.

So one of the trips I have been trying to do for a while now. Death Valley!!! It was awesome, so beautiful. Did not get a lot of action shots but plenty of landscape.

Getting close...

Great build! Was wondering what you thought about the Radflo kit? Do you still recommend it? I'm looking to purchase the Stage 6 from MT in the next few months.

Love the kit. Did awesome this weekend. Looking to get them rebuilt and adding adjustable remote resis after the new year.

Well last night after dinner came out to a flat tire. Couldn't see anything wrong with it. Changed it and drive off. Woke up today to check the tire in the light and....

Hole in the sidewall. Doesn't look like someone stabbed it, more like the sidewall failed. The tires had dried out pretty bad and were starting to chunk. The DuraTracs did last 60k miles so I am happy.

Nitto Trail Grapplers in 285/75x17 going on tomorrow. Now to get the regear done!

Need to do a little clearance I have a feeling. But once the body mount chop is done I think I will be good. Thing is beastly. One thing new tires made me realize was how loud the Duratracs had become. These things are quiet!
