Millennium Silver Paint

Not sure I've ever seen this color, exactly, and don't know the history - but given my 3rd gen is a 2000 model and the color is called millennium silver, is it likely it was a one year color? I need some touch up paint but can't imagine what the odds might be that I'd find that color somewhere. It's not a typical silver. My 5th gen is silver but not even close. The millennium, depending on the light, can look like his either a gold or even a light green tint in it. Pretty color but different.

Anyone in the know?

mine is the same color too! as to get the prefect match go to the dealer they sale touch up's for a nice little sum...beyond that maybe an autoshop could match a batch for you?

They made that color for a few years. Mine is an '01 and is MS. Like Izz said, you can get touch up paint from the dealership, but for a price. Any paint and body shop should be able to mix you up a batch that will match too. They'll have all the mixing specs as it's a factory color.

I've picked up some touch up paint from a local dealer for two of my rigs, my 01 in white and my 00 in silver. They gave me both for free! They also gave a buddy of mine his touch up paint for free as well.

As far as getting the color for millennium silver I first check with the local auto parts store. They can give you a generic silver that won't match as well but it's pretty close. They also suggested a local paint shop that was almost across the street. I went to the paint shop and they were able to order me 4 rattle cans of the Toyota millennium silver. I had plans on repainting a few parts but just used them for touch up. I think I have 2 cans (they are the smaller ones) that I haven't used that I would be willing to part with if you need something to cover a small area. I will snap a picture in a few days and show you what I got.

the local auto store doesn't match up very well...ask me how i know..lol

Millennium Silver Metallic was available from 1999 thru 2002. I agree it is a more livelier color than the 5th Gen's Classic Silver Metallic. I was hoping that the second half of the 5th gen gets a more complex silver color myself. If you can't get the touch up paint locally, you can always get it online from paintscratch.com.

search MSM and Lexus and you'll find a lot more cars that got that color. My IS300 was that millennium silver, and color match is a PITA. I had multiple portions of the IS repainted as things were changed or got chipped, dinged etc. It took a few tries of the body shop to make me happy with the front end. Duplicolor (IIRC) makes the touch up in a bottle, but its hard to apply it and have it look decent with the 3 stage paint that it is.

The problem for me was always different lighting ... in some light it would look spot on, but different angle lighting would show a difference in the shade. It wasn't terrible, about as noticeable as factory Nissan paint often is between the body and the urethane bumpers. I was just VERY picky about my IS, and if I pay a shop to color match something I expected it to be just that ... color matched!
