Mobil wifi in the car

I've been thinking about this. I've got sprint so it would be like a 25 buck a month option for me to make it a 'hotspot' but I've got a bunch of old routers lying around so I thought maybe I could tether my cellphone to one of them. Sprint already charges me for the 4G service and a single tether is within the TOA. I think I'd need a bluetooth capable router, though, to do it correctly, but you can set up a DD-WRT flashed router as a repeater no problem. So maybe the easiest thing to do is throw a little wireless router in the console, and configure it to repeat your phone signal. Actually I've got to think about this some more. I'll run a couple experiments and get back to you.

Jailbreak your iDevice and install MiWi from the Cydia store. Best tethering app out there. Runs off your 3g service and doesn't require the tethering plan. I used it on a road trip from Lexington, KY to Atlantic City, NJ and it worked great. Had both my laptop and my friend's laptop connected to the net through MiWi. Was able to check email, surf the web, watch pr0n (jk), and stream audio with no problems.

I just use a VZW 4G LTE Hotspot and have yet to loose coverage. Most the time it's faster then my Comcast connection at home.

I use my AT&T hotspot on my iPhone and it supports 5 connections at once. Drove cross country and the wife used her iPad in the car all the time. Even when I almost hit deer several times

Driving cross country sounds like a blast..
Too bad I can't drive my self if my life depended on it right now since I fractured my ankle :violin:
