Monroe Quickstruts Goods and Bads

For those that are thinking about getting your 3rd gen struts replaced with Monroe Quick Struts here are some thoughts for you.
It is definitely the cheapest way to go. $230 for a pair of struts. ($650 is you go with OEM).
They are already assembled for easy installation.
They come in Left and Right versions but you can't tell the difference between the two other than a sticker with an L or an R.
I put them in the way 99% of people would, L on drivers side and R on passenger side. The truck did not sit level so I drove them for about 300 miles to see if they would settle but they did not budge.
Passenger side was one inch higher than drivers side. After much consternation I decided to switch them and put the L on the passenger side and R on the drivers side, now the front is within 1/8 of an inch in height.
The other thing worth noting is at the same time I put 99 tall boy springs in the back and the quick struts are taller than the 99 coils, not much about 1/8 of an inch.
So bottom line is they are cheap for a reason but they will work. Be prepared for more height in the front.

Just curious did you order for your year model, or a 1999 hoping to get more lift?

I ask because I read a guy on yotatech ordered 1999 Moog front coil springs for a lift with 906 rear coils.

I put them on front and their shocks out back a month or two ago.

Happy with them. No issues installing.

No issues here for me with these. I installed these 1 year ago. The fronts were a tad high at install, but did settle for me over time, which Monroe tech support stated they would.

Since I was replacing the original struts and shocks all the way around (132k miles), I also replaced rear coils at the same time with OEM equivalent. I did notice the driver's side was a bit lower after I was done, but with the gas tank on that side, I didn't worry about it. After running these for a year, I also have no issues and they ride nice. I have stood back and eyeballed it and honestly I cannot tell that one side may sit a tad lower then the other without measuring it and it sits at least level or just a bit of rake from back to front.

I installed mine as instructed.

I ordered straight up as a 2000 T4R.
I have a feeling that Monroe doesn't realize that the 99 had different springs and you basically get the same strut for any order from 98-02. When I look up the numbers on Advance Auto website both a 99 and 00 have the same numbers
One side note that was interesting in my purchase was both struts were engraved with 171351L. Although one had a "L" sticker and the other an "R". I called Monroe and they said that was ok because the difference was in the springs not the shock, which I know is true but you sure can't tell any difference from the springs.
