Moog springs did nothing...

In an attempt to help the rear sag until I get a suspension lift, I got a set of the moog replacement springs. And my hopes of a better ride were smashed as the bump stops are still only about 1/2" away from contacting the axle, right where the old springs were. Is this a common outcome with these springs? Or is my stock 4runner magically heavier in the rear than normal? I also only have approximately 1/4 tank of gas.

What year is your 4runner? Perhaps you had one of the taller springs (with 99 I believe being the tallest) and the moogs just took you back to the height the taller springs had sagged to?

You would probably have been better off taking before and after measurements from center of hub to fender, and I assume it looks the same visually... If you're hoping to resolve this, you may as well get your suspension lift on order versus trying to fuss around with removal and reinstallation of another stock/OE style part. Black friday treated me well last year from Toytec and a couple other vendors, maybe go that route.

Oh, last thing - surely you wouldn't have posted this if you had any extra weight in the back, like a dual 15" sub box or several bodies? Air bags would fix that.

It's a 97. And no extra weight in the back. I considered airbags, but I think the Toytec BOSS kit will be in order in another month or so. I'll keep an eye out for the sale. Thanks

That is AWESOME!!! I use the same measurement scale for car trunk space...how many bodies will fit?...:wow:

I bought the moog springs for 16" wheels from Amazon and installed them last week. It took the driver sag away mostly to completely. The visual aspect of it now is the rear bumper is pushed down some in that corner I still need to swap from and rear bumpers over to the 97.

I can hook you up with some 1.5" coil spacers, I put a mild lift on my 2002 4runner but I'm going to have to go 2.5" in the back to balance it out after all. They're only a couple months old, made by Daystar. Would probably work perfect for you.

It's almost like an optical illusion on these 4runners, I've measured a few times and my front measures almost exactly what the rear does but the front looks so much higher. I think it's because the way the front fender gets wider at a certain point (for fender clearance when it steers) and the rear is almost the same distance all the way around.
