Moonroof Leak

my sunroof leake only when i went through a certain car wash (i know weird) but it also wouldnt open or close bc of the cables being jammed. i ended up replacing my sunroof so i have an extra glass if anyone wants to buy it.

Flex Seal it

I know, corny but I'll tell you this. I've got an '02 travel trailer w/a 14' slideout at a deer lease. Couple years ago it started leaking at the point the slideout met the other part of the tt. I tried all the official stuff the trailer parts place suggested, special caulking (that costs 12/tube!), special tape (not cheap either), several times without much success. One day out of desperation, i went to a nearby ace hardware and looked around. Came across 3Ms version of "Flex Seal", I bought can for $10, figured how much more can i waste? I cleaned the surfaces with just a damp cloth and sprayed and sprayed till the can ran out. The rain came again and again, no more leaking. The stuff works!!. Its now been 2 years and still no leaking. Plus with clear you won't really see the excess, perhaps put some coverup over other areas to avoid overspray but I really think this will work for you. Ive had this same leak for about a year. I tried cleaning, scuffing, and sealing with some sealants but the cold an hot weather destroys the repair in no time. We have a Pro Spot plastic welder at work I'm going to try when the weather is nicer, not a home remedy I know but i'll post my findings when i'm finished. The part i'll be using is really just a glorified soldering iron though that fuses the plastic back together. Cheaper than the $700 oem sunroof!

I had the same leak on the center crack. When I accelerated and turned right at the same time, it would drip on my face! I tested the drains by pouring water in and they were fine so I figured it was that crack that was allowing water in. I was able to use this "flowable" sealer (Permatex 81730) on the outside and upside down on the inside. While I was at it, I sealed all around between the rubber and glass. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to test yet. Will update when I finally do when I give it a wash this weekend.

[Update]: 2 car washes later and not one drop of water inside! I have a feeling that just sealing the center would have fixed it because even if water did get in the seals, I think they would flow into the inner channel and out the drains anyway.

it sounds like yours may be leaking due to a clogged rear drain. they are fairly difficult to see from what i hear.

i have definitely determined that mine is leaking between the glass and the plastic bezel that all the brackets mount to. the drains are clear - at least the front ones - and you can see from the pic where the leak originates. it is then dripping down onto the headliner. if I park at just the right incline in a hard rain it'll actually fill up the compartment below the e-brake. haha

my plan is to remove the sunroof from its bezel and silicone seal it back in place. it's not going to be an easy job, but I'll try to take pics as i go.

Mine is leaking in same exact spot. Even gets on the e brake

Mine's leaking too. Mine's leaking from the gasket around the glass and is leaking inside along the glass edge.

Checking the gasket I found these holes

Any suggestions besides the $587 for new glass from Camelback?

Had to pay it forward.. Did the full fix approach.. 1) shoved weed eater string through from the sunroof drain -> down 4 ft 2) applied the Permatex flowable sealer... its rained about 36 hrs straight since applied to the center crack... no issues so far.. I will update if / when it fails. This was pretty embarrassing earlier this week.. A co-workers went with me to an event... as it rained all day.... it would drip directly from the center crack into the cup holders... Coming out from our meeting i had 1/2 - 3/4 inch rain in the cup holder. After fix .. still dry ... so far :trophy:
