The Ultra Gauge I've had for a year or so, but I primarily use it to monitor my gas mileage. It's also nice to have in case you through a code. It does a lot of other things that I have messed around with though, and I should learn about those.
The only indication of trans temp on mine is when it overheats and you get a dummy light. With the issues I've had with my transmission I fit an extra $60 is worth it. The hardest part is going to be figuring out where to install it. I have a pillar pod, but I'm unsure if I like the looks of it. The other option would be mounting it next to the shifter.

Not much more going to happen here. I'm designing a roof rack, front UCA's, and maybe some front LCA's. My new project is a Rover that we'll be traveling with in a couple years around the country.

Thats a bummer. I liked how you added the lift kit and the wheels. Good choices there. Im also a lamdrover fan! Love the discovery! When will you start that build?

We've found there just isn't enough room in the 4runner for living out of if we needed to. With all the gear we bring with us for backpacking, our dog, and relaxing. The room just isn't there.
Here's a link to the build for the D2. It has a 2" lift, and 265/75/18. Haven't done a lot to it since we've been gone hiking the AT since the first of the year. Once I get the transmission finished we'll start going on the it. Pulling the seats out to build a full length platform with ample storage. I'll design and build a roof rack for this too.

I didn't get much of anything done last night due to rain, and a meeting with our financial adviser to discuss our next adventure. But, the fittings that I was concerned about came free tonight. I'm not sure if it was the flare nut wrenches I used, the BP Plaster, a little luck, or all three? Not that it matters. I'm hoping to get a little more done tonight, but not sure how much since time will be limited. I'm still hoping to have this out by Saturday morning.

Not much going on here. I still have some plans to build a roof rack, front bumper, and rear tire carrier after the New Year.
We're taking a cross country road trip from 12/23-1/3 in the 4runner. Heading from St. Louis out the Newport OR, and back. Here's what I've come up with for the drive out. Going to be heading through Colorado, and Utah. We plan on stopping at Zion and Red Cliffs. We'll go through Vegas, and up through Death Valley. Taking 395 up to the Carson City/Tahoe area before cutting across California to Redwoods National Park. From there we'll take 101 up the coast to Newport.

I have family in Newport OR, and in Kalama WA. Just heading up there to visit for a few days. We plan on doing some hiking, and maybe some xc skiing if we can.
Plus we're going to be leaving in about 18 months to start traveling the US. This is like a mini trial run.
Still haven't figured out the return trip. I was looking at the map, and thinking about heading up there. I thought about heading up the Seattle, heading over to Spokane, and then down to be Butte to head home. Not sure about how the road are going to look though. Maybe we'll get lucky.

Nice, all my family is up in the north east or Europe so I don't have a good excuse to make a trip like that. One day I will though. One day.

We've got family all over. My is in Washington, Oregon, and Florida. My wife had family in Missouri, Indian, and Virginia. Plus the friends that live in California, Maine, Alaska, Montana, and so on. We plan on spending about 2 years on the road visiting everybody, and all the places in between.
A couple more items showed up yesterday. I received my new transmission temp gauge from Glow Shift, OEM thermostat & o-ring, and my new to me transmission.
Your doing a manual swap ? How are you going to install the temp gauge ? I know for the ENGINE oil pressure gauge, there's a plug on the side of the block that you can tap into. What about trans

No, I just replaced the auto that was toast. The shifter you're seeing is for the transmission. With the trans temp I'm going to tie it into the the external cooler I installed. It's not the best picture, but here's the gauge installed. I used an Autometer pod that's for 3rd Gen's.

Today I was able to get my interior swapped out. I got rid of the silver bezel for the black bezel. I also got rid of the Cobra 19 mounted in the dash.
I also ran a new coax below the cigarette lighter. The will allow me to plug in my Midland Handheld CB to a larger antenna.
