At least I think thats what its called. Was moving the other day and a piece of wood struck this display and broke it. Does anyone know what it costs to replace this? Saw something online about it being $2000+ but there is no way I can afford that. If it is that expensive anyone know of a cheaper alternative to at least be able to see my ac/heater temperature? To clarify, this is the display just above the ac controls that shows time, temp, gas mileage, etc. Oh, this is on a 2004 4runner. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to find one at a wrecking yard, I can't see it costing more than a few hundred used.

It's all one piece, if you remove the little pull out compartment door under the display. You'll see a screw, remove that. Then the rest of it is just held in with snaps. You just have to pull it off, and unhook the harness in the back.
Takes about 1 minute to remove the unit.

A piece of wood struck it and broke it? Looks like the bulb burned out from the pic (then again, I just am looking on my iPhone). If its the bulb it's an easy replacement, just a few bucks from your stealership. Do a search and u can find the part #'s on this site....one more thing, might as well change them all out, save u time down the road
Was gonna see how much it cost before I decided if I really need/want it. The only thing I would really need it for would be to see my ac/heater temperature but even then, all I really have to do is turn it up if its too cold and down if its too hot. The mileage calculator thing is nice but I definately dont need it. It did have the time on it and my stereo doesnt but I have been wanting a new stereo anyway so I can have an ipod input. Other than that it would just look like crap sitting in the dash broken.

I feel ya man.
I know a guy in montana who has something like 10-20 wrecked 4runners mostly 3rd gens. I'll shoot him an email if he has a 4th gen & the part I'll let you know... Hope it works out. outside temp is nice to have also.
