I think if you give it time you will see the ones you are talking about do not post often.
Most of who post here a lot are pretty chill. Im pretty sure I did not tell you (specifically) to search but if I had it would have been polite and with a link on how to.
In my signature is a link to a thread (about effectively searching) that I believe is helpful for anyone to read and I hope it helps you out.

Just playing around OP, I hope you stick around because I'm sure after a while you will find that it's a pretty chill group of guys here and you will be amazed of how often a complete stranger will go out of their way to help you out with any particular problem. Just recently Brian757 , and Ol'Blue have done such a thing for me and I can't even begin to express how thankfull I am for their kindness to a complete stranger, and they certainly aren't the only one to have done such a thing, many many others on this forum are just like them.

I spent a while on Pirate back in high school/college. Talk about a hard forum to post on. This forum is insanely respectful and helpful compared to that and other similar forums.
On pirate, if you don't know how to design a 4 link, SAS your runner with custom brackets and swap in a supercharged V8 and atlas transfercase, you're the dumbest person in the world.
On here, if you don't know how to take off your oil filter, the first person to reply will likely link you to a tutorial and give you a thumbs up. You're still talking to a group of fully grown men, so expect some sarcastic comments to come up, especially if there is a tutorial in the FAQ that got neglected.

I understand where you are coming from. I used to do the same think the same about some of the responses but after you search around the forum you see were all pretty chill and tactful. I think its just the lack of "browsing" the forum that upset people because 99% of the already answered questions pop up when you type them into the google search. Trust me I don't post much but I am on here almost everyday and after you see "goodyear wrangler duratracs worth a shot?" or "does toytec make good stuff?" for the 5th time you just learn to ignore them and tend to become jokes between senior members.

As with all things in life, you'll be better off if you focus on the positive and block out the negative. I do get annoyed with some of the ridiculous things people post up asking the most ridiculous questions when they haven't searched for it. It continues to happen because this forum is kindergarten compared to others. I get being new with questions but reality is if you don't know how things work then look around and try to figure it out before asking. Google is your best friend. Google and thing and add site:toyota-4runner.org to it and youll find the answer. I prefer to answer search less questions by posting a link to let me google that FOR you. Makes em feel like an ass when they click it and the title of there thread is what I searched and they receive the answer.

Overall, this forum is fairly polite. Longstanding members do tend to use the generic "search" reply to most repeat questions and I get that since the info is out there.
I can, however attest to the fact that sometimes searching can reveal information about similar scenarios, but not exactly the same scenario as you are asking about. Suspension questions are the worst for that as there seem to be almost infinite combinations and results.
Also, searching can often provide conflicting information since most of it is based on personal preference and opinion as well as a lot of used/swapped components that may be the same, but perform differently depending on stage of life the components are in (think Tundra/LC lifts for example).
It really is important to search first before asking your questions, but if you find conflicting or incomplete information to your question, please do post about it.
As a tip though, when you indicate in your post that your searches have not been as successful as you would like or that searching has left you confused, people are usually willing to help you solve the issue with either a link to the info that you couldn't find or their advice/experience.
If that yields rude responses or "go search it some more" responses, then that is unfortunate and, as far as I'm concerned, not really a good promotion of community and helpfulness. That said, it is still better than the "you idiot" replies of some other forums.

And seriously Singtoe has it right, what the hell does this have to do with 3rd gen 4runners. This is the 3rd gen technical forum. Take this "hug me I'm a precious little snowflake" crap to the Off-topic section (Thanks for the move SV_Dude).
As folks have said, guys here are nice enough to spend hours of their own personal time writing detailed how-to's and answering real questions. Newbies need to take 15 minutes to search for those threads before they ask their questions. No one here wants to hold the hand of 10 people a day that are doing nothing more than clogging up our forum with false threads, making it harder to search and find those good threads that will actually answer the questions.
And for the record, 95% of the threads that get the snarky responses can be completely answered by the 1 single sticky thread entitled "Master Directory of Informational Threads --- A MUST READ For New Members". No pity if they don't even read the sticky's and then get their feelings hurt.
And before you say I am being rude, and the exact example of what you were talking about in the first post; you gotta just grow a thicker skin. PM me a follow-up question from one of my old posts, or respond in an existing thread to ask a follow-up question, and I will be happy to take my time to answer your question, same as most guys here; in fact that happens all the time, I pretty much always answer PM'd questions.
