Just wanted to say hi got my 1st 4runner just over a month or so ago, found the forum really helpful before and since the purchase.

Its a 1999 SR5 V6 Auto 4x4 with 139,000k(86,000 miles)

Really enjoying it so far :D

Plan to use it for back country travel so new springs/shocks, new front bumper/winch, snorkel and sleeping platform from there we will have to wait and see.

sweet ride

nice looking ride.

Is it my imagination or do the Canadian Runners not have the center hi mounted stop light atop the rear hatch? I do not see the cutout in the rear wing to allow the light to show....maybe it is just the angle of the photo....

just curious because I am looking to add the wing here soon to keep the dirt off my back window all the time.

Better to unbolt those running boards now before you damage them and find them harder to sell-some folks actually desire these things....more money for some sliders.

I agree about the running boards. Mine were in pretty good shape and I was able to sell them for just under $200 US on ebay.

the wing appears to be a different one than stock and seems to be made from plexiglass or something that is just tinted

you hit the nail on its head its tinted plexiglass and the high level brake light just shines through it, its the same plexiglass as the front bug deflector other than that don't know to much about it as it came with the truck. I can take a look see for a manufactures logo if anybody is interested in finding one like it.

What's the matter with running boards? They come in really handy when I need to get my kayak on the roof.

Boards are cool for awhile

the running boards tend to crumple up when off roading

they work fine for around town stuff and some people love em while others just hate them.

Most of the wheelers have gone to sliders-which still function as a "step up" but offer more hard core protection from rocks.

Running boards just arent my cup of tea, not to mention last time I checked I dont have a kayak on the roof.

I could deal with a nice black set of tube steps, since I don't really wheel any places where I would bend a tube step. That being said, I have a friend who does a lot of fabrication and is going to be building me a set of sliders for probably less than a set of tube steps cost, and I get to pick the design. :awais:

Argh so after posting pics of my nice clean runner, I left the house Sunday in a foul mood (long story) started to pull out of the underground parking and found my passenger had forgotten something so i reversed back into the garage (something i never normally do and missed judged the corner and backed into a concrete support post!!

I feel such a jerk. lucky the insurance will cover it as the tailgate is badly creased and the bumper is toast plus the bumper mounts bent the floor upwards just inside the tailgate.

Man what crappy day:(
