My 2007 v6 4runner engine blew

okay so I'm pissed! the dealership ordered the wrong shims so i wont get it back for another at least week! FML

I think now is the time to ask how they plan to compensate you for the inconvenience and to question whether this dealership has the skills and know how to do this job. I have a nasty picture of some grease monkey scratching his head at a filthy table with all the innards of your engine laid out on it.

Perhaps they might be persuaded (either through Toyota Corporate or possibly a lawyer) to buy your 4Runner off you for a price that will alllow you to buy a similar age and mileage one with an extended warranty like you have now. I know it won't be easy to find but you will have something reliable you can drive now. I fear you will be on first name terms with every service tech in the dealership in the months and years that follow this rebuild effort otherwise.

what makes me mad as well is about a week before my engine was shot to hell i had spent about 20 hours steam cleaning, polishing/waxing, and touching up any part of it that needed attention. now that it has been sitting outside for the last almost 2 months i will have to put about 10 more hours into it just to get it back to how it was. and i had just bought brand new tires that have maybe 12 miles on them.

I would really raise hell and if I remember your kind of a younger guy so I would ask your dad to go raise hell because unfortunately people/managers dont take young people very seriously. I understand things take time and stuff but with the mistakes they have made that are costing YOU time, money and grievance from driving a POS around they provided that is not a similar compensation of what you dropped off.

yeah that is true. but i have to remember they are doing it under warranty and they gave me a free rental. so no money is coming out of my pocket to fix it.

Keep in mind that if you start pushing them they may take shortcuts/ make mistakes to get it done and get you out of their hair.
I know it's hard to wait (been there) but let them do it right the first time.

ITS FINISHED!!!! now i get to go do 1 to 2 hours of paper work...

okay so its finally in my drive way!!! what i did was drove it 52.7 miles then changed the oil. and now i have strong magnets against the oil filter to help catch metal shards that could be left behind. im going to cut my first and second oil filters in half and take pictures of what was inside.
