My 2008 Toyota SR5 today hitting 10,0013 hard earned miles.

Took my lady friend on a 15 mile round trip for a visit of our Trader Joe's, what a surprise when the "maintenance" light came on, i guessed it was again like eight years ago telling me my engines oil needed changing at 5,000 miles and i needed to go to my Toyota Dealer quickly.

Knowing what it was i thought what would a code scan would tell me, well what i received was five engine codes none in regards to an oil change.

Again i feel Toyota in their wisdom like having the anti skid light flashing with the check engine light on, just because the gas cap is not tight, it's a Toyota scam just trying to get one to their Stealer Dealers Service Thugs.:gun4:

Wow, and I thought I had low mileage. Curious as to what maintenance you do based on time rather than mileage. Do you have the V8 or V6...4WD or 2WD?

I have the V6 and i change my own oil and filter use Mobil 1 only, Toyota has it fixed you receive a maintenance notice light on dash near the check engine lite that try's to send you to your local Toyota Stealer Dealer's service Dept. you receive this notice at 5K then again at 10K i think i changed oil maybe five time before the 5K now i wait around two years.

There is a trick using the reset on odometer to get that stupid maintenance lite off, myself i don't trust my Toyota Dealer for anything.:vader:

Any other questions just ask you should see my under carriage and frame there is no signs of any rust, never drive it when ice or snow in on streets.

Yeah they have it set to go off every 5k, no fancy sensors actually detecting oil life. I am amazed at how clean it looks and just rolling over 10k is amazing. I think I am close to 5k miles a month at this point.

Dang, 10k! Looks good as it should. As for the maintenance light, I've never seen any other lights come on when that light comes on. The manual shows how to reset it. If the CEL is on, you should really scan it for codes. Could be as simple as a loose gas cap or maybe the seal is tired. The car may have super low miles but it's still getting old so things will fail with age, especially seals.
