Ha, that's pretty cool.

I bought mine yesterday and painted them. Got them all cut up this evening and they're pretty slick! I'll report back how well they work after I test them out this weekend.

Nice! A.Wilson013 here's to hoping the C.O. mozzies stay at bay...last weekend they
were pretty tolerable near Wickiup/Craine Prairie Res.

This is much better than my wrapped/taped screen around the rear windows...

Nice!

Can't wait to hear how they work, have a good time!!

Sale sale sale

Okay so not a big deal considering how cheap these already are, but

ORCHARD SUPPLY

Has them on sale for $0.99 each

And I think you only need to buy 4 of them.
2 for back windows
2 for rear windows, I have yet to do the rear windows but 2 look to be plenty for the rear slider.

Bump cause someone posted looking for this.
I coincidently wanted to remember this thread recently as well

Wow, I just got done putting those exact gutter covers up on our house, and I actually have a couple left over that I was going to return but this is a much better idea! Really good thinking OP. I bought mine at Home Depot and did see some other screen/gutter covering options but I wanna say the white ones you originally used were the cheapest I saw at HD. I support this being added to the cheap mods list; definitely a keeper!

Great Idea, Just so you know they do work great as gutter guards too, those are what I have on all my gutters on my house lol

That does look awesome and effective, thanks for sharing!

Mosquitos here in FL wouldn't fit through the big holes, let alone the 2nd screen layer :wow:

I had been brainstorming trying to figure out how to go about a screen exactly like this. Thank you for figuring it out for me!

Hahaah.....that's awesome!

It actually fits really good, and has enough bite into the window channel to offer some security. Meaning for one, you can't just slice through it like a screen, and two if you were to try and push it in, it takes a bit of effort to do so. So the security would be the time it takes to get past it, just enough to wake up and be conscious of what's happening.

Well since no one responded with a picture of their back I went ahead and did it trial and error style. I got 2 guards and cut them to the exact shape of the window and then added 2 smaller pieces of screen that I just stuck in the window channel. I taped the screens together on the inside so they won't go anywhere. I took them for a drive and got up to 70 mph and nothing was shaking or anything. Thanks for the idea!

I cant believe I missed this post, glad i caught it today. You sir are a ****ing genius and have solved my biggest question of how to install screens on my windows to keep the bugs out. Its sooo clean and simple. I need to buy this next time I pass a hardware store.

I would also like to buy you a beer, :usa2:

JeepKiller thanks for being the one to show how to do the back window, I think with a few minor detailing on it you will be done. If you don't mind maybe you can take a picture of the pieces for others to copy. You know, just so they can see how you trimmed the screen to fit, just so they can have an idea how to start. As far as hitting 70 mph, that's awesome to know it will stay put!

Thank you Sir,

I'm glad you caught a glimpse of it befor it fell out to the higher pages.

I never expected this thread to catch such traction, I'm kinda wishing I had named the thread something different, so as to be found easier in the search.
I'm glad you will give it a shot!

As for everyone else, thanks for the kind words, and be sure to share it with others. Because when it's all said and done, the greatest compliment will be seeing it deployed on fellow overlander and 4Runner campers!
