Awesome, such a good looking gray! Is that a toyota color or aftermarket? Also,if you don't mind me asking, about how much total was it? A few grand?

Thanks! It is Sikkens color match to the factory grey. I don't know how much it would have cost as we worked out some trade work for the paint job. He mentioned around $4-5K in labor time and paint materials as the Sikkens is an expensive paint. When it was painted the first time, he used a new clear from Matrix and it didn't lay down right. It had a reaction with the Sikkens base color and they had to sand it all down and re work the whole thing. Matrix wanted to check out the rig before they did so and the issues where identified and fixed, but all that took time. Because of that and the extra costs, it will not come home to me with the stripe kit, I'll buy it later and have it installed at another time.

Subscribed. I love the factory paint, stripes and wheels plan. The Toyota V8 will just be the icing on the cake.

I picked it up last night, for the most part, I'm happy with it. I do plan to buy and install the factory decals and the windshield trim. They hadn't got to the trim and I was tired of waiting, so I put it all in the back and drove home. I want to buff it all anyway.
What is your opinion on the wheel well trim, leave it off or put it back on?

I didn't intend for this become a restoration, but I do like the chrome trim too and the stuff I took off doesn't look so good. I thought it was ok, but next to the new paint, it looks terrible. One wheel well trim piece is good, one other fixable, windshield molding is ok, but the rubber that borders it is trashed. Toyota still carries the windshield trim, but it's $360. I still need to order the '87 graphics and have them installed, and find a new rear bumper, and a passenger power window switch. I plan to buy weld-on sliders to protect mostly from door dings, and I like the way they look. Thinking about keeping with the front bumper or buying Addicted's new plate bumper?, damn, I need a second job $$$!
That being said, I forgot how much I love this little truck! So glad I did this and I'm excited to drive it for many years to come.

I put the old windshield trim back on, it looks bad up close but better than not having it at all. The front valance is being painted tomorrow and I fixed a few small things with it this week. I need to look at the rear seat belt mech, it only pulls out a couple inches for some reason, just started that today. It also developed a hard start issue, mostly when cold, and the idle doesn't pick up when cold either. Once started though, it runs like a champ. Well, an oil burning rattle trap champ anyway. The temp sender is bad, always shows warm, but I didn't think the computer used engine water temp for anything? I bought an LC short shifter kit this week, I hope it fits under the stock rubber boot. Should make rowing through the gears better. I'm 6'2" and have to lean a bit forward every time I shift to 3rd/5th right now.
It's all progress though and she still got 20mpg this week, not too bad.
