great upgrade, in the OP, what is the model of the camera used? I know you purchased it off eBay, was hoping to do the same project to my 4Runner
You guys who hooked up the camera
Can i cut the rca plug off the end and re splice down the line for the video feed?
os it water proof?..most users on amazon are complaining about moisture entering the camera..........
I did just that when I installed on for a friend. I eventually had to redo it because I'm thinking oxidation started to cause problems. I re-soldered, siliconed and heatsrinked it. Didn't have an issue after that. I would just suggest making it a good clean connection and making it stay clean and moisture free.
The planets aligned today and both of my kids were napping at the same time so I figured I'd be able to get it done in 2-3 hours. I got the wires ran and my camera installed but (thankfully) I decided to test the rear window before I buttoned everything up. Whenever I roll down the rear window, it snags on the cord and would snap it. I reran the wire 3 times and fixed my connections 3 times before giving up. So now I have a camera installed, and the wires ran into the inside of the 4runner, but their not connected because the window keeps cutting them. What am I doing wrong?!
Anyone have any ideas? I've never read that anyone had had this issue before.
Where did all the photos in the tutorial go? :scared:
