My budget build 3rd Gen

Put a little wrench time in on her today.

Changed the rear diff gear oil. (It's a lot quieter now.)
Changed the Fuel Filter
Changed the Air Filter
Changed the Plugs and Wires
Cleaned the MAF meter and Throttle Body
Tightened up the throttle, cruise control and kick down cables.

4 trips to Advance Auto, 1.) to but everything or so I thought, 2.) to buy a 24mm socket for the drain and fill plugs on the diff, 3.) (walked) because 2 quarts didn't fill the diff, 4.) to dump the old gear oil.

I could not for the life of me get a grip on the nuts to change out the 02 sensor. Any advice anyone? Does anyone remember what size the nuts on those studs are? I changed it on my 99 but nothing I had fit it properly this time. My best guess is 12 mm but that didn't do it.
 
Lets see a pic of those wheels on the 4runner when you get your tires mounted! Love your thread too. Definitely getting your money out of it!
 
Thanks. I'm penny pinching on it, something I've never done on any of my other cars. But to be honest it's a lot more satisfying this way.

Will post pics, wheels and tires are still in my basement. (not mounted). I just picked up the 4th center cap for these wheels today too. Still have to paint the center caps.
 
Twitchee, it did. It was here when I got home from work Friday night. I installed it yesterday, took about 15 minutes and works like a charm. Thanks again.
 
Sorry for not updating this thread in a while guys, life has been busy and keeping me from spending time on the 4Runner. Bought some more parts today:

I will be working on the truck this weekend with Zach and since we'll have a lot of the front end apart, figured it was cheap insurance (and just plain smart) to do the LBJ's and OTRE. Decided to go with the bigger Tacoma parts. My truck isn't gonna be lifted (99 Tall Springs) but I can't rule out what I may do down the line. So for a few extra bucks I figured the stronger Tacoma parts were worth it.

LBJ's (went with Altrom as they also mfg the OEM's)

These list for $124.00 each, paid $72.81 each.

OTRE's

These list at $54.99 each, paid $49.83 each.

As of right now, here is what I think we're going to do on Friday:
Install LBJ's and OTRE
Install Bilstein Shocks
Install 99' Tall Springs
Install Poly Sway Bar Bushings
Install Poly Steering Rack Bushings
Install Tundra 199 Brake Kit
Install Tranny Cooler
Mount & Balance Hankook DynaPro's on the refinished 5 Stars
DRINK A LOT OF BEER. :)

I'll update the thread and post pictures when we're done. Can't thank Zach enough, great guy and very generous with his time. I keep telling my wife I want to do a side business kind of like those two British guys on Wheelers Dealers but specifically for Toyotas. If I ever do it Zach is the only guy I'd want to partner up with to do it.

This weekend huh? Me too! Although I don't have nearly a list as you. I will be replacing the 4runner LBJs and OTREs with Taco components and will also be replacing my ITREs. Are you planning to take pictures along the way?

Nice, good luck. I'm leaving the Inners for now, I'll replace them when the steering rack eventually needs replacing.

Doubtful on the pics but maybe. It's a lot to knock out, I want to try to hustle through it as quick as we can.
 
So I changed the A/C, Power Steering and Alternator belts today. I must say it wax a bit of a pain in the *ss. Still can't figure out why these don't have a serpentine belt.

Tomorrow is a big day, Zach and I will be tearing into her. Followed by tearing into a lot of beers! :)

My goal with this one is to have a bullet proof DD that I enjoy driving and will still take me anywhere I want to go. I don't really off road it, just skiing and trips to the Pocono's and the shore. I'm a cheap bas**** so I refuse to have a car payment. My goal is to pay off my house in the next 12 years, every month with my old girl here is a month closer to that goal.
 
Yep my runner is my DD and i love driving it. I dont off road much either i just love the looks of all the mods. Id keep it forever haha
 
Leaving in about an hour to go meet Zach and tackle the long list on mods/maintenance we're throwing at my 4R today. Very much looking forward to the finished product later today.
 
We got a lot done on her today:

Poly Steering Rack Bushings
99 Tall Coils
Bilsteins at all 4 corners
Taco LBJ's and OTRE's
Poly Sway Bar Bushings all around
Tundra 199 mm Brake Kit
Mounted and Balanced the Hankook's on my refinished 5 stars.

All in all a good day. Took us a bout 6 hours start to finish which I thought was decent. It's too dark now, I'll post pics tomorrow.
