I think that's why he's saying single stage is better...

My clear is starting to peel as well, but only on the plastic panels. Thinking pastidipping them, it'll add a bit of accent color and won't look as bad as peeling paint.

mine is peeling on the hood, doors at the window moldings. The front bumper before my accident had clear damage and the roof was repainted before i purchased. It sucks, ive been looking in to a wrap.

Add my 2006 to the list. I had the roof repainted, but now the hood, fenders and anywhere else that's more horizontal than vertical as all starting to show signs of clear coat failure. I've been meaning to bring it by a body shop and find out if this can be fixed without major surgery.

There's a place in Riverside called Economy Paint and Collision that looks like they do quality paint jobs for little money. Their highest grade is a urethane clear coat, which they advertise for $795. I've been looking into them for a while now, and have found nothing but excellent reviews. I'm guessing they'll charge a little more for 4Runners due to size, but it can't be much more. The sample pictures I've seen are pretty good. I'll probably go with them to repaint my truck, just need to save up the pennies.

i guess im lucky down here in texas. but washing it today i saw that the front of the roof above the windshield is looking like it wants to run free in the near future. now its just a waiting game.....

I figured I wasn't the only one worried about this. Mine is Nautical Blue, nice and dark, and its been a Florida car all its life but the paint looks fantastic. Must have been garaged its whole life. Well those days are over, a two car garage only fits the wife's topless Jeep and my bikes, so the Runner sits outdoors. Just gotta be more diligent about waxing it I guess.

i detail for a side job, i can assure you it has zero to do with waxing. More to do with 12 year old translucent paint and west coast heat.
