My Dilema: which model?

Actually, the SR5 would have the best factory approach/departure angle as it lacks the plastic front/rear valance pieces. I added them to my SR5 cause they look cool!

4runner Limited is best choice. You live in Boston where it snows alot and full time 4wd is much better than part time. TRD Pro is overpriced and doesn't have leather or heated seats or good stereo or even a sunroof! Plus Limited looks fking amazing in magnetic gray or nautical blue or blizzard pearl!

Personally I think it’s wise to test the different trims you’re interested in back to back. Drive them over the exact same route, using the same driving style and let that be your guide. There are different trims built for different purposes. Our biggest concern was getting the most bang for our buck in terms of handling on rough surface roads. Lots of nasty potholes and similar hazards can be sometimes avoided, but it’s not always safe to do so.

Some here have commented about the Highlander and I do think for many people it’s a great vehicle. However I don’t trust it to survive as well under the conditions we’re dealing with. We felt that a BOF vehicle is better suited to get thru this without constantly receiving damage.

Also, I didn’t get much of a sense of your desire to modify whatever you buy. We have little to no interest in doing so (at least not for quite some time). So for us it was a TE w/ KDSS. Now I know many here on this great forum may either love it or hate it. And they may have various reasons for that. It certainly has pros and cons to it as do most choices in life. However, if we had to do it all over again we would order it again exactly the same way. Some people take little to no time researching and looking for their next vehicle. This forum was quite invaluable in doing research. Thankfully we didn’t need anything right away. If anything we took too long looking and then had to wait a while to get it. But it was well worth it.

Best of luck, hope that you get what works best for you.

What sold you on the TRD PRO over the SR5?

I'm having the same internal debate with myself right now.

Good luck w/ your purchase.

I liked the ride better in the TRD Pro. The suspension just felt better to me. It would have been great to drive one with KDSS back to back with the TP, but I couldn't make that happen.

The good news is, my dealer swapped their Quicksand for a Mag Grey, and it's now in my garage. That happened way too fast!

I've spent a LOT of time on Toyota's website, and find it confusing. I'm going to summarize what conclusions I've come to and would greatly appreciate it if someone could confirm or deny my accuracy.

Trim level options?
To get heated seats, I must get the PREMIUM version of SR5.

To get KDSS, the only trim I can chose is TE. I can't just add KDSS to a base SR5? and even though TE costs more, KDSS is an extra option?

Cooled seats only come on the Limited. Same with XREAS?

If I get the Limited I'm stuck with fake chrome spattered everywhere?

I really wish I could get a base SR5, and add options of heated seats and KDSS. That's all the options I "need", cooled seats sound nice.

Go here http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-g...ner-owner-need-help-searching-start-here.html and read. A lot. Then click on a link you will find there that looks like http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/186247-5th-gen-features-models-differences.html and you will then read all the differences between all the models and what you can and cannot have.

This is why the fifteen post rule is good.

Thanks! Your post on model differences breaks it down well, almost perfectly. I've done weeks of searching here, the forum is so busy with info...

I miss the days when an option is just an option. Paying a few thousand for a higher trim, just to be given the option of paying for more add inns is a bit annoying.

I think LE with no options will fit the bill.

Thanks again
