Just wanted to share my quick solution to this as my 3-year old American Bulldog was slipping when jumping in the back. These were $7/pair at WalMart and took 5 minutes to install. Very sturdy thick rubber w/3M backing. Have worked great and don't look too shabby.

I like that. No dog, but my bumper is all crapped up from hauling stuff.

At my local one, I saw it in the aisle with all the towing equipment. Home depot also has a similar one for about the same price, but the Walmart ones feel like the rubber is a bit more durable and I think it's also 3M adhesive on the back.

bed liner

I coated the rear area with a bed liner , to get rid of the ugly silver and give it more traction for my stepping on it and for my dog getting in, it works great and looks good. very durable.

I don't see why it would not work as long as the tread surface is relatively smooth...it might not work so well over a diamond plate tread like Budbuilt uses...
