My Electric Fan swap

With the above circuit
I would have to have 2 switchs
1) auto-off - between power and pole 30 on relay
2) override high
I would use led in the dash for indicators..
1) indicate high fan when on
2) indicate low fan when on
this simplifies the system with just two spst switchs.
two separate indicator lights
I dont know where I would run the wire from the fan clutch

No place for it without an additional relay. Basically combining the two diagrams you've posted. Easy enough to do. But two switches seems like one switch too many. If you are going to use LED indicators, you can use this switch to have OFF-AUTO-ON. Wiring would be similar, and you can have the lights in the switch illuminate at night.

Ok after a lot of looking. It seems that I am gunna have to compromise and I'm gunna go this route.
This uses the three way switch you just posted and I would use seperate indicator lights for..high low and off.
The switch would be auto-override on- override off.
This doesn't incorporate the ac fan clutch, but hey, it uses one switch, provides me with indicator lights and I can always run it on high manually when my ac is hot.

Whoa, I don't see it, not in that diagram. I like your last diagram better, we could alter it with the switch I suggested and make it what you want, and we could add the third relay and have the A/C function too! I have a drawing program but it's not so hot. I'll work on it anyway.

:noidea:

Ok well I really appreciate your help man, I owe this efan swap to you!
So we're gunna use the second relay diagram? Make it work for (1) 3 way switch, utilize the ac clutch input, and have indicator lights for the high-low-off?
So I will use leds in the dash for the indicator lights, and the posted 3 way on-auto-off otrattw switch.
Let me know so I can order the parts and relays, just purchased a 4 relay bank, and fuse block today also

OK I forgot the LED circuits, I'll work on that. I will post a separate Switch diagram, I can't use the PDF they have, so I'll use paint or my drawing program.

Awesome! So this is the diagram were going with?
When ac is on it activates high, and there is override hi?
Just tell me what to buy and I'll swipe the card haha:biggrin1:

Hey man thanks!
I think I'll wire both led to be on at all times, and just use a separate portion of the dash for both indicator lights.
With this system pin 1 & 6 are left alone

Yes, that is correct. The switch I quoted in the switch diagram has lights that are completely independent of switch position, so that will work. I didn't see one like that that used LED lights, but you can look. It must be an 8 pin, or 6 pin if you only have one light.

You can join the purple and brown wires at one LED indicator and that will light regardless of what speed the fan is on, or you can eliminate that altogether.

For manual override(ON) we need a diode where the Yellow box labeled switch is, so the led doesn't light when the AC or High speed temp switch are active, then one side of the LED to Term 4 on the switch, and the other to 12V Fused Ignition.

For AUTO and OFF we need a relay, Let me draw that out.

That is correct, the switch is very versatile. In fact, you can use Term 1 to the LED to indicate (ON) and ground the other side, this would eliminate the need for the Diode I mentioned earlier.

Then you could use Term 6 as the ground for the LED to indicate (Auto)

Let me work on how to indicate OFF.

OK, hold the celebration. I have a major flaw in my diagram. It only cuts out the high speed relay, not the low speed. I have to tie in Term 87A somehow.

I'll get back to you!

Soon!

I hope!

:hurt:

Hey man no worries, I'm just glad to get some help. this is why I love t4r!
I have to get off here. Ill check back in the afternoon, and we'll go from there

Alright, I revised my diagram a little. The original diagram was set up to keep the low speed fan running with the engine off until the temp dropped.

We don't need that and can't support it.

I also joined the indicator LED circuits to one LED. This will light anytime the fan is on, regardless of why.

The other LED is the Manual override indicator.

I'll change the switch diagram to reflect the LEDs and I'll figure out what to do about the OFF indicator tomorrow. The most important one in my opinion.

The bad news is getting a light to come on when the switch is OFF is hard. But it's not THAT hard. You get to buy another relay! And two diodes. Here is the diagram for the OFF LED and the AUTO LED.

Essentially in either the AUTO, or OVERRIDE position the relay is grounded and powering nothing. In the center OFF position, the relay defaults to power the LED.

Here is the revised Pin out for the switch. Just rememember Terminals 4 and 6 will have two wires each connnected.

If I had time I'd put this all on one drawing, but I'm too tired now.

Im working on throwing this drawing all together today, thanks for all the help lballengineer!
