My First 06 SR5 4Runner Build LOTS OF PICS

Upon discover all the things you can do to your 4runner at such a low cost on the forum, i immediately went to home depot to get started. Mod number one? Plasti-Dip

The day started about 8:30am on a Friday to drive to home depot 5 minutes away to pick up the cans of Plasti Dip.

After getting two cans. I returned home to tape off the grill and whatever else I could find shiny enough to plasti dip.

Tips For Plasti Dip

Things I learned about plasti dip:
1. Do not tape off directly next to what your coating. Leave at least an inch of paint between your tape and what ever you're coating that way when you go to peel it off, it doesn't come off what you want coated.

2. You cant mess up. Paint, peel, paint, peel.

3. For smaller painting jobs such as emblems or lettering, its not necessary to tape off or cover your car on a wind less day. A rag with a little bit of XYLOL will take off any over spray with ease.

4. I found it that if you do it in full sunlight, little air bubbles will come up through it if what your painting is too warm so make sure that your car isnt toooooo hot.

Good job! I like the texture! I have just recently discovered the plasti-dipping for myself, and I am so impatient to try it out on something, anything.. But my whole car is black =)
I am thinking my chrome wheels on the bimmer would be an interesting project.

Also, I wanted to throw my 0.02$ abouth the pictures: next time try to resize them down to 800x600 resolution (or 600x800 if portrait layout), so they fit everyone's screens. You could go up to 1024x768 but that would be the max for the internet content.
