My First 4WD Experience with my '16 T4RTE - NOT GOOD

Too many to list at 6:30am... IPA - I'll always have a place in my heart for Stone and Lagunitas Lil Sumpin. Old Faithful forever (for me)... Guinness. Light and refreshing... Warsteiner (Because life is too short to drink cheap beer). Here in Tejas, we have a slew of microbrews doing a stellar job; too many to list. Great time to enjoy different brews.

I'm also more of a Hefe fan and not much of an IPA fan. However, Kona Brewing Company's Castaway IPA makes a great marinade for freshly made brats. Soaked for three days and then grilled while enjoying a Ft Collins Brewing Company Hefeweizen or Irish Red from the local Shamrock Brewery makes a fantastic summer meal.

I had lunch at FTC Brewery yesterday, if you're in the area, its worth checking out.

I used to not like IPAs, but have they ever grown on me, its a great beer for the summer.

I'm located down at the southern end of the I25 corridor. The next time I'm up that way, I'll definitely check it out! I've had this idea to do a " (mtn)bike n brew tour" along the front range.

Another beer that has surprised me is a Dry Docks Vanilla porter, I hate vanilla beers (and most fruit beers for that matter) but it's super dark and has just the right amount of vanilla flavor.

I took the Sam Adams Brewery tour and at the end you get a couple of their beers to taste. We had Cold Snap from tap, OMG the difference in taste from the ones sold in a can is big!

The breweries in foco don't suck. For you Belgian brew lovers, funkwerks offers some good beers and is typically a lot less busy on the weekend than the bigger names breweries in the area (located in the old Fort Collins brewery building).

Funny thread....

Here is the deal. MTS.... Waste of time. Don't use it. It provides nothing very useful.

Practice going in and out of 4H on pavement. No reason not to go into 4H on pavement as long as you are going relatively straight... Just do the shifting at a slow speed (up to 45mph) while not on the gas. Try to do it in one smooth movement... It's very easy once you do it a few times.

For 4Lo. I always go to 4H moving first. Stop, put the transmission in N, Then shift the T-Case to Lo. Same thing to go back to 4H.

While in 4L... practice flipping atrac on and your rear locker, these are very useful in extremely low traction scenarios.

You want to learn to use this stuff before needing it..

For the 4WD. Anyone new to the Toyota and it's systems should take a few hrs out of their week, head to a dirt road or a long/straight parking lot and get to know the sequences before you NEED to know how they work. That's what I did, and it worked wonders. The Trail has more features to help, but also more features to learn. Best get studying.

As for beer, if you like a hoppy IPA, check out anything from Knee Deep Brewing out of Auburn, CA. Across the board phenomenal IPA's with my favorite being the Hop Derranged. Quad IPA, +\- 14% ABV, hoppy with a slight boozy taste, but it drinks like a double IPA. Watch your back with this one.

Have been driving 4wds from almost all manufacturers for about 60 years. They are all a little different - Practice a bit.

I'm not a beer drinker - but a couple of comments were interesting.

I went wheeling with a fella in our FJCs - I used my electronic gizmos to to get through some mud/ruts

he came in right behind me an buried it. I asked him about it and he didn't even know how that you have to push the button to turn it on... doh

I love IPAs and Belgian ales. My current two favorites are Oskar Blues Gubbna double IPA and also their G'knight red imperial IPA. If you want a fantastic Belgian look into Gulden Draak triple. Insanely good stuff but it's going to cost you.

I've been getting into gose style beers lately and sours. They're an exciting and refreshing new frontier for me.
