My friend flipped his 3rd Gen 4 Times!

But there were at least two people in the car and it flipped 4 times. Everyone walked away.

Yep. These vehicles might not be fast, but the high center of gravity is certainly not helpful when in the hands of an inexperienced driver. Especially if the driver THINKS he's experienced.

My insurance agent told me last week that the 3rd gen 4runners are still expensive to insure despite their age due to the percentage of the drivers that are under 25 that are driving them is increasing.

I did 70+ on two wheels in a first gen Explorer once on I95. I think it took a week before my nerves calmed down.

As a 20 year old, I completely agree with this statement. Generalizations annoy me, no matter how accurate they may be sometimes.

It's not a far fetched generalization, I've seen it over and over on this forum. Specifically: this wreck 17 y/o, a week ago a 20 y/o crashed and flipped, two weeks ago a teen driver flipped a 4Runner into a tree and 4 people died. That is 3 incidents in the last 30 days on T4R, all with drivers < or = 20 y/o.

No offense to the OP but this is quite common with younger drivers. I am 29 and I don't have a kid but if I did, I wouldn't buy my 17 y/o a 4WD vehicle.


Try this formula:

4Runner + Off_Roading + 20 y/o + didn't buy the truck with their own earned money

= likely to do dumb sh$t and then expect parents to buy them another new/used vehicle after a wreck :ybrick:

Thats probably why that gerneralization annoys me. Im disappointed by my peers.
